Celebrate Republic Day with us: this weekend the VELA Cup returns to Puglia, to the waters of Salento . A breathtaking course, 12 miles of coastal sailing off the prestigious Brindisi beaches of Punta Penne and Torre Testa. For those coming from outside, there is free mooring offered by the Brindisi Marina, and for those with an annual berth, registration for the VELA Cup is free. Find out what’s in store for you!

Everything you need to know about VELA Cup Brindisi
WHERE AND WHEN. Saturday, June 1, in Brindisi, Puglia, in the heart of Salento.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE. Any type of boat from 4 meters and up, no certicate required. First place wins, with divisions by homogeneous length classes, Cruising Boat (white sails) and Sport Boat (spi, gennaker, code 0) categories.
FREE MOORINGS. The Brindisi Marina offers free moorings to boats from outside the area. For info info@marinadibrindisi.it
DURATION AND ROUTE. The “Regatta” lasts no longer than three to four hours. The route is coastal: it starts from Puntariso Dam, outside the port of Brindisi, and heads northwest, passing through the Punta Penne-Punta del Serrone Area of Natural and Historical Interest. You turn the buoy in front of the Torre Guaceto Marine Protected Area and head back to the starting line.
THE EQUIPMENT. You do not need to be an experienced sailor to participate.
AWARDS. Prizes are awarded to the first in each class in the Cruising Boat and Sport Boat categories, the first Classic Boat in each length class. The overall winner in compensated time among all participants wins Leg Winner prize and also there are many raffle prizes for (almost) everyone.
