The Solaris Cup 2024, the customary event that gathers owners from the Aquileia (UD) shipyard for a three-day regatta, starts today. We also arrived at the dock today, along with the crews of the 102 hulls that arrived at the Porto Rotondo Yacht Club in the morning. The 2024 edition, held today through Sunday, May 26, celebrates three different birthdays. In fact, they are celebrating 50 years since the founding of the Solaris shipyard, 10 years since the first Solaris Cup, and 60 years of the Porto Rotondo Yacht Club, to whose leadership Luigi Fabrizio Ferrero De Falco was recently appointed president.
First day of gathering for boats and owners, there was a crew warm-up in the waters of Porto Rotondo. We walked among the docks set up for the occasion in the beautiful location of Sardinia, where we are present to tell you step by step how the regatta will go.
We met Marc Giorgetti, majority shareholder of Solaris: “With 2024, we gather in Porto Rotondo to celebrate two special occasions: 50 years of the shipyard and 10 years of Solaris Cup. The results of these past years are there for all to see and represented by the extraordinary fleet present at our event ” Giorgetti tells us, who continues, “We are happy to welcome the big Solaris family to these beautiful waters for 4 days of shared passion, sports and social moments that we have prepared. To all the owners and friends of Solaris, my personal thanks for their commitment to participate in our Solaris Cup.”
1 in 10 Solaris has a presence at Solaris Cup 2024
One-tenth of the Solaris Cup production is present in the Porto Rotondo marina for the Solaris Cup, a figure that makes one reflect on the owners’ affection for the shipyard and the spirit of friendship and familiarity that exists at this event.
The fleet of racers represents the Solaris range very well, starting with the smallest, the 36′ One Design Falabrac (11 meters), up toMarc Giorgetti’s 33.77-meter flagship CeFeA. In terms of age, the “oldest” hull is Lucio Carli’s 48 One Bluette, a splendid design by Doug Peterson preserved as if it had just left the yard, as well as several Solaris that were launched in Aquileia a few weeks ago. and who made the first trip specifically to go to Porto Rotondo. In terms of groupings, the most numerous are the very best sellers of the site.
Today’s day included crews arriving in the morning so that they could find fellowship at sea in the afternoon during a training session with a nice 20-knot mistral. Then space for dancing and fun with the welcome cocktail in the lounge of the Yacht Club Porto Rotondo. “It’s a real pleasure and honor to host a prestigious event like this in the Yacht Club,” says us Luigi Fabrizio Ferrero De Falco, the president of the Porto Rotondo Yacht Club, “Solaris is like home here, and the yacht club is an ideal base for seamen like Solaris owners.”
From tomorrow we will tell you about the regatta
Tomorrow, May 24, the races begin, divided into two days that see the large fleet divided into three classes based on length. The first group sees 31 hulls up to 47.99 feet, the second group 48 hulls up to 58 feet, and finally there will be group zero, which will consist of 24 hulls 60 feet and up. We will update you with the race day story directly from the race course. Stay connected!
