Over 50 entrants for VELA Cup Tuscany / Triton Cup, find out who’s there
Everything is ready for the Tuscan super event of the VELA Cup at Marina Cala de’ Medici. Among the entries are boats of all kinds. From Classic Boats such as Balto, Simone Martini’s 1976 Comet 1000, to boats fresh from the boatyard such as Amici Miei, Giacomo Bufalini’s 2023 Beneteau First 36.
You don’t need a set of racing sails to participate, just a mainsail and jib to enter in the Cruising Boat category. So there are boats like Enigma, Valerio Cera’s Beneteau Oceanis 50, or Wing, Giulia Zanieri’s First 40.7. For those who are more sporty, however, and want to use spi, gennaker and code 0, there is the Sport Boat category. These include boats such as Adrenalina, Massimo Morandini’s Corsair F27 that had already participated in VELA. Cup Liguria, Black Swan, Marco Bianchi’s First 30 JK, or Alessandro Pini’s Ely J, Grand Soleil ‘s second hull 64 Maxi One, designed by New Zealand sailing “Wizard” Bruce Farr and launched in 1992.

VELA Cup not enough for you? Sunday is the Triton Cup!
If the VELA Cup isn’t enough for you, we’re going back out to sea together with our friends from the Triton Cup on Sunday, with an even better goal! We are going to discover the beauty of our seas while having fun in a boat. Sponsored by the LIFE A-MAR NATURA2000 project, the Triton Cup is the first regatta to promote Natura 2000 marine and coastal sites. Thanks to the constant efforts of professionals who work enthusiastically on issues of environmental and scientific culture, we will discover the riches that our coasts and seas offer us. Through clear, simple and innovative communication, while maintaining the rigor of scientific popularization, the people of LIFE A-MAR NATURA2000 will engage us firsthand in sea protection and marine biodiversity conservation activities. Not only that, the Triton Cup will also be an opportunity to promote a SEA TERAPY project that aims to introduce the sport of sailing to different categories of people, including those from weaker and more fragile groups, in order to share their passion and love for the sea with everyone.
LIFE A-MAR NATURA2000 is a project co-funded by the European Union and the parks-Tuscan Archipelago National Park, Cinque Terre National Park and Asinara National Park-that has Federparchi – Europarc, Triton Research, LIPU and Fundación Biodiversidad working in partnership.
