To every boat its line. There is often a tendency on drifts to underestimate their types and resistance to loads and wear, but this is a big mistake. It is precisely on the “small ones” that the tops are stressed: not only because of continuous contact with water and salt. One wrong maneuver, a spi or gennaker suddenly swelling, an overhang complete with a “gybe-maze,” and there goes the sheets and halyards being strained to breaking point. The worst load, for a summit.
Lorenz Line’s new drift lines.
It is precisely to meet the needs of drifters (racing or non-racing) that Armare Ropes has developed Lorenz Line, a new line of ropes developed specifically for use on high-load, high-wear rigging aboard small dinghies.
What are the features of the range? The ropes feature a unidirectional core construction and a low-stretch Dyneema or HMPE protective sheath.
Lorenz Line’s key features improve its grip (i.e., ability not to slip when held) and locking ability on chokes. Good handling that goes well with high resistance to abrasion and bending. These features make the Lorenz Line the ideal line for use as a vang, cunningham, mistress, hoist and current rigging on dinghies and one design boats, such as Moth, 49er, ILCA (formerly laser) 4, 6 and 7…
