In an era of the sailing industry driven by the mantra of seeking space at any cost, there are cruising boats that somewhat go against the grain and continue to put quality sailing at the top of their design priorities, such as the Cantiere del Pardo with the new GS 65 LC, comfortable and fast sailing.
It is not an easy exercise to make a boat nearly 6 meters wide, with significant interior volumes and accessorized with every comfort, yet manage to make it also pleasing to the wheel and quick when hoisting the sails. One of the wizards in the pursuit of this balance is undoubtedly Matteo Polli, who with the new Grand Soleil 65 LC, and before that on the GS 72, demonstrates that he knows how to bring to large boats his ability to make fast hulls without compromising the hull’s living spaces. All harmonized by the deck and interior lines of Nauta Design, the other signature on the 65 LC’s design.
We were in Palma de Mallorca to try out the new Grand Soleil, a boat that was supposed in our expectations to confirm what we had already seen with the 72, that is, a design designed for long sailings but with marked sailing capabilities even in breezes.
