Spring Regattas: here’s who won the three-day regatta in Portofino

Three days of racing with 4 races completed, this is the balance of the Spring Regattas organized in Portofino by the Yacht Club Italiano, reserved for boats from 50 feet upwards, divided into IRC and Open categories. Racing a diverse fleet of cruiser racers and maxis, including the 100′ ARCA and the one-design full foiling Flying Nikka, as well as a large presence of the Ice Yachts, Solaris and Grand Soleil shipyards.
The three days of racing were characterized by medium-light winds from the southern quadrants, with maximum intensity recorded on the first and third days around 12 knots, lighter during day 2. Three trials held on coastal routes, one the stick trial. Many well-known names of professional sailors from the national offshore, such as Andrea Fornaro, Matteo Sericano, the Benussi brothers, Enrico Zennaro, Andrea Casale, Gaetano Figlia di Granara, just to name a few of those present.
Spring Regattas – Who Won
In the Open grouping, victory for Wally 80. Aori Tyrolit, ahead of Bamboo IV, the Solaris 50 from the Swiss shipowner. Renzo Franco, third place for Bandido, the ICE 70 RS of Mexican Ernesto Aguilar, which managed to move up in position on the last day at the expense of Enigma, the Solaris 50 of Giacomo Enea Mansutti, which slipped to fourth place by only two points.
In the final IRC group standings, however, a one-two finish by the ICE Yachts yard with Felice Egidi’s ICE 52 No Regret in the lead, ahead of Soleag, Jean Yves Thomas‘ French ICE 53. Third on equal points is Mistral Gagnant, Marco Ferrero‘s Solaris 50, which paid for fourth place in today’s trial.
The top performance of the “king of video games”
In addition to the top three finishers in each category, prizes were also awarded to. ARCA Funds of Furio Benussi, which won the YCI Cup as the best hull on the finish line and the Performance Trophy, for the crew that made the best recovery between the first and last trial, which went to the Solaris 64RS Good Game by Niccolò Maisto.
Maisto has a very special history: they call him the “king of video games” because he created the largest community of e-sports players in the world: 30 million users. He has fixed up the interior of his Solaris 64 RS by making the boat a very convenient office for remote work, in anticipation of launching a new Solaris – larger in size – which we will soon see on the water. For his achievement at the Spring Regattas, he received a state-of-the-art B&G processor.
