The ExiLencer filtration system , manufactured by Danish company Exilator and distributed in Italy by Saim Marine, offers an innovative way to reduce boat engine odors, emissions and noise while maintaining high performance. This system, available in two versions, is designed for four-stroke diesel engines and generators, and is distinguished by its ease of installation, low maintenance requirements, and ability to extend engine life by reducing engine wear.

The ExiLencer Filter

The ExiLencer 1.0 version is suitable for engines with exhaust gas backpressure between 1.5 and 6 kPa and temperature above 325°C. This filter can reduce particulate matter and carbon monoxide by 99 percent, noise emissions by 35 dB, and nitrogen oxides by 10 percent. Requires annual cleaning or after 5,000 hours of use. Consisting of an integrated silencer, a Nasa-patented ceramic-coated filter(ExiBlock) and a nitrogen oxide catalyst, this filter operates passively on exhaust gases, effectively reducing pollutant emissions.

The ExiLencer 2.0 version, on the other hand, is made with a metal coating and is suitable for engines with exhaust gas back pressure between 0.2 and 0.5 kPa and a temperature slightly above 200°C. This filter reduces particulate matter by 60 percent, eliminates carbon monoxide by 90 percent, reduces noise emissions by 15 dB and nitrogen oxides by up to 10 percent. Requires cleaning every 10,000 hours of use.

The benefits for those who choose to install it

Installing the ExiLencer filter on board offers many benefits, including reducing air and sea pollutant emissions, decreasing engine noise, and limiting exhaust smoke, which tends to foul the hull and deck. It also helps reduce engine wear and eliminate odors caused by combustion. Available in different sizes (Micro, Mini, Standard) to suit different types of vessels, the system also includes ExiBox, a real-time performance monitoring device to check the status of the filter. For sailboats, the Micro filter (40 x 25 cm), which weighs 25 kg, is recommended.
