Last Chance Regatta
. A six-day sea trials and clashes among about a thousand athletes divided among 10 Classes. Here, focus of much of the attention, the LCR (Last Chance Regatta) trials, where the real prize at stake was the selection of the nation to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for the specific Class. The Azure target, on this juncture, two classes: 470Mix (Mixed Doubles; Dignhy) and Men’s 49er(Men’s Doubles; Skiff). How did it go?
French Olympic Week 2024
Team Azzurra arrived in Hyères with 8 out of 10 classes already selected, namely iQfoil (male and female), Formula Kite (male and female), ILCA 7; ILCA 6; 49er FX and Nacra 17. The big absentees, precisely, 470 and 49er. In the first case, flawless performance by the 2 Italian crews in 470, Giacomo Ferrari and Alessandra Dubbini (ITA 3) on the one hand and Elena Berta and Bruno Festo (ITA 6) on the other, who finished first and second respectively, thus earning Italy an Olympic pass. Sixth place was the best placement in 49er, however, which thus misses the pass, although it is a placement that allows Italy, in the event, to be the first country among the repechaged. Who, then, will be the Azzurro crew chosen for Paris ’24 (Marseille)? We will soon be notified by the NOC, which is the National Olympic Committee. In the meantime, however, let’s see who, and in what class, will be in Paris competing in Sailing.
