People of the VELA Cup this weekend it’s back to Liguria! Next Saturday(April 27) the most fun regatta ever comes to Chiavari. A breathtaking, 12-mile sailing course between Chiavari, Lavagna and Portofino in the beautiful Tigullio Gulf. Find out what’s in store for you!

Everything you need to know about VELA Cup Liguria / ICE Cup

WHERE AND WHEN. Saturday, April 27 in Chiavari, capital of the Tigullio Gulf, eastern Liguria.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE. Any type of boat from 4 meters and up, no certicate required. First place wins, with divisions by homogeneous length classes, Cruising Boat (white sails) and Sport Boat (spi, gennaker, code 0) categories.

FREE MOORINGS. Chiavari Marina Calata Ovest offers free moorings to boats from outside the Tigullio area that participate. For info commerciale@calataovest.it – tel. 0185 472646 – cell. 340 1633413

DURATION AND ROUTE. The “Regatta” lasts no longer than three to four hours. The route is coastal, in the Gulf of Tigullio: starting from Chiavari and touching Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino.

THE EQUIPMENT. You do not need to be an experienced sailor to participate.

DISCOUNTS AND BENEFITS. For all VELA Cup crews 10% discount at the prestigious Chiavari Yacht Club restaurant (located on the harbor) for dinner on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.

AWARDS. Prizes are awarded to the first in each class in the Cruising Boat and Sport Boat categories, the first Classic Boat in each length class. The overall winner in compensated time among all participants wins Leg Winner prize and also there are many raffle prizes for (almost) everyone.

Are you hungry? Book the VELA Cup Liguria picnic lunch

No need to galley or cook, if you’re hungry at VELA Cup Liguria you can book a packed lunch directly from home to take on board for the race. The service is very simple. To reserve the VELA Cup Food Bag you must email robertoyachtclub@gmail.com or call 0185 301279 by Thursday, April 25. Saturday morning you will be able to pick up your picnic lunch before you cast off your moorings. Inside you will find: a sandwich, a fruit and a small bottle of water (cost 10 euros).

After Chiavari, the VELA Cup awaits you in Tuscany

After last year’s great success, the VELA Cup returns to Marina Cala de’ Medici on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, in the heart of the Etruscan Coast and in front of the beautiful Tuscan Archipelago. A second edition that fills up and doubles, even triples! In the weekend leading up to the 151 Miglia, in addition to being the second leg of the VELA Cup, the circuit of regattas open to all boats and sailors (sports and non-sports), on Saturday, after the awards ceremony the champions of Italian sailing will take the stage, with the awarding of the Sailor of the Year prize, the Oscar of Italian sailing.
