The most interesting news from the latest Multi Hull Internatinal Show in La Grande Motte? Definitely the new Windelo 54 catamaran. Why?
The new Windelo 54 is 16.24 meters long by 7.98 meters wide.

What was the most interesting new catamaran we saw at the La Grande Motte Boat Show? Definitely the Windelo 54. We’ll explain why as we give you a close-up look at it, as we climbed aboard.

Windelo 54: echo, really

First of all because of the construction technique, it is in fact made of basalt fiber, and not traditional fiberglass. Basalt has the no small characteristic of being completely recyclable. In addition, 50 percent of the structures are sandwiched where with a PET core, thus made of recycled plastic.

Electric thrust

Secondly for the propulsion system, Windelo 54 is driven by two electric motors of 30 kW each, the battery pack is 53 kWh Lithium. It then has two hydrogenerators that recharge the batteries when sailing (at 10 knots they produce kWh each), and the top of the superstructure is entirely covered with photovoltaic panels. However, there are two diesel generators that also provide a traditional, endothermic boost when connected to the electric motors

Windelo 54, an “inverted” lay-out

Finally for the design: distinctive externally (nice rounded edges of the aft cabin windows) and striking inside, where the “usual” cockpit has been moved to the mast foot.

You can find out all, including the price, of the Windelo 54 in our video.
