NL Composite, the Monfalcone, Trieste-based start-up focused on the production of sustainable boats, christened theEcoracer 30 in Trieste. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and materials, this boat is fully recyclable, a true manifesto of NL Composite’s commitment to environmental sustainability in the marine industry.
The christening event, chaired by Donatella Bianchi, was held at the Yacht Club Adriaco in Trieste, from where the Ecoracer 30 will take off to compete in the Italian Offshore Championship in Brindisi at the end of June. In addition to the sporting competition, the goal is to demonstrate to the European marine industry the quality of NL Composite’s patented materials and technology, which enables the manufacture of boats with thermoplastic resins that are fully recyclable at the end of their useful life.
NL Composite CEO Fabio Bignolinihighlighted the company’s long journey since 2020. Through patent approval, NL Composite became the first company to produce an entirely recyclable hull, licensing rComposite technology to prestigious shipyards and producing nonstructural parts for large international groups.
Prominent among the important orders is that of Grand Soleil, the Italian boatyard that used NL Composite materials for the GS Blue. In addition, Groupe Beneteau Italy is conducting a research project with NL Composite to develop nonstructural parts for boats built in Monfalcone by the French group.
Also supporting NL Composite’s project is Samer & Co. Shipping, a shareholder of the start-up since its founding. Enrico Samer highlighted the success to date and expressed his support for the company’s future development into new markets. NL Composite is exploring opportunities in wind blade manufacturing, as well as being involved in various sectors such as furniture and components, offering a viable alternative to fiberglass to make industrial processes more sustainable.
