The adventure of the
Swan 65 Traslated 9 at the Ocean Globe Race
seems like an endless epic: two victories in the first two legs, then hull breakage on the third leg after Cape Horn, repairs made in the Malvinas Islands/Falklands in time to restart for the fourth leg.
And now again the hull showing a waterway on the fourth leg (Punta del Este – Southampton) and the requirement to stop in Madeira, a remote Atlantic archipelago, to assess the damage to the boat and decide what to do. This is yet another complex stage of Translated 9’s regatta, which also dealt with the “Malingri case”.
The conclusion of the Italian Swan 65’s round-the-world race with this new breakdown is seriously at risk, while the standings despite the two victories now see the boat led by skipper Nico Malingri out of the running. But the adventure, it seems, has not ended; there may be a final chapter.
Translated 9 – Ready for another “Falklands” operation?
Although overall victory in the round-the-world race is now definitely compromised, Marco Trombetti and Translated 9 ‘s crew may still decide to complete the round-the-world race by crossing the finish line in Southampton.
Translated 9’s own founder implied this in his latest Facebook video, “We need rest, we need to see our families, and we all have low mood and motivation because we are out of the race now. But we didn’t come here just to hunt for an award, but because ‘We Believe in Humans’ , and the Traslated9 project is bigger than just the result,” Marco Trombetti said in a video that deliberately leaves the story open.
