From the Balearics to Turkey, here’s where to rent a boat to experience an unforgettable vacation.
1. BALEARIC ISLANDS (Spain)
Best time: April/October (temperature 20°C min- 29°C max).
Why go: because of the mild climate and always favorable weather conditions.
2. COSTA AZZURRA (France)
Best time: late April-October (temperature 19°C min- 26°C max).
Why go there: The coastline is characterized by sandy stretches alternating with rock. The towns of Nice, St. Tropez, Hyeres are worth visiting.
3. CORSICA (France)
Best time: May-October (temperature 14°C min- 28°C max).
Why go there: the most beautiful and viariegated coastline on the island. See Calvi, Ajaccio, Bonifacio, Bastia and Macinaggio.
4. SARDINIA
Best period: in the north from May to October; in the south from April to October (temperature 21°C min- 30°C max).
Why go there: best known are the mundane resorts in the northeast, but we suggest you also sail the stretch of coastline to the west, in the middle of the Mediterranean.
5. TUSCAN ARCHIPELAGO
Best period: May-October (temperature 14°C min- 26°C max)
Why go there: it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sailing areas in the Tyrrhenian Sea, where the wind never fails. To approach Montecristo Island, permission from the State Forestry Corps is required (tel. 0566 40611- 0566 40019).
6. LOWER TYRRHENIAN ISLANDS
Best time: late April-October (temperature 20°C min- 29°C max)
Why go: from Civitavecchia to Formia, and then down to Naples, you can find fascinating stretches of coastline. Not to be forgotten are the islands of South Pontine, Capri and Ischia.
7. SICILY, AEOLIAN AND EGADI ARCHIPELAGO
Best time: late April-October (temperature 21°C min- 30°C max).
Why go there: the island offers different cues for those who want to sail in relaxation and discover unique bays and places with crystal clear water, ideal for sea and diving lovers.
8. CROATIA
Best period: May-October (temperature 21°C min-28°C max)
Why go there: from the coasts of Italy just cross over to reach the moonscapes of the Croatian coast.
9. IONIC GREECE.
Best period: May-October (temperature 20°C min-31°C max)
Why go there: to visit Corfu, Paxos, Levkas, Zakynthos, Kefalonia.
10. GREECE AGEO
Best period: May-October (temperature 22°C min-29°C max)
Why go there: the hundreds of islands present make it difficult to navigate, but the charm of these places is incredible. For sailing enthusiasts, the wind is certainly not to be missed here.
11. TURKEY
Best period: May-September (temperature 23°C min-34°C max)
Why go there: still little known to cruise passengers, it offers wilderness and offers new insights for cruising. There is no shortage of equipped marinas where to stop. It may be the right opportunity to sail aboard a gulet.
