5 used boats from 9.66 to 13.50 m
They are so diverse: there are Classic Boats, top quality handcrafted boats, bestselling models. We present them in ascending order of length. A safe used car: guarantees the Sailing Newspaper!
Oceanis 31 – 9.66 m – Finot Conq’s “big boat”
The first of the used boats we offer today is a compact but comfortable cruiser that, in the year of its launch (2009) won the Boat of the Year award in the Family Cruiser category. We are talking about a Beneteau Oceanis 31 (9.66 x 3.39 m), designed by Finot Conq. A true “big boat” (it is under 10 meters, so it is not registered) that features XXL spaces perfect for family cruising.
The hull of the Oceanis 31 presents a modern aesthetic, proportionate in its lines and with a good distribution of submerged volumes. Below deck, we find large spaces that enjoy natural light, diffused by the fenestration located on the deckhouse.
The crew is provided with two double cabins, one aft oriented by beam and the other forward. The kitchen has an L-shaped floor plan and offers everything needed for a mid-range cruise. The only bathroom is located to the right of the entrance staircase.
The model for sale, visible in La Spezia, is from 2010. It is powered by 21-horsepower Myanmar inboard and is equipped with solar panels and heater. Ready to sail.
Elan 340 – 9.99 – Successful. Rob Humphreys guarantees.
We continue with the second of the used boats for sale. An Elan 340 (10.45 x 3.46 m) that is a vessel because the hull length is 9.99 m. A truly elegant ten-meter yacht, born from the pencil of British designer Rob Humphreys, who succeeded in creating a yacht with a compact but not massive line, modern but not extreme, proportionate and elegant on the water.
Comparing it with its predecessor Elan 333, the 340 model has about 60 cm more waterline length, which translates into better performance in medium winds as well as in power sailing.
Given the same displacement and sail area, the design ratios do not change much and define a hull with equally sporty, well-sailed characteristics and high form stability.
Very serviceable in all walking areas, it has a particularly clean layout thanks to the grille on the deckhouse, which made it possible to both conceal all the halyards and to flush the five hatches and two handrails.
The distribution of space follows that of the Elan 333, with some small but significant improvements in the size of the berths and forward cabin now equipped with ample storage. For the furniture, with flush, frameless doors, a light-colored wood such as Aningre was preferred, while a dark wenge was used for the dunnage.
The model under review can be seen in Naples and is in excellent condition.
Alpa 11.50 – 11.56 m – DNA Sparkman & Stephens
The third of the used boats seeking an owner is a historic Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela, so it is bound to grow in value over time. AnAlpa 11.50 (11.56 x 3.20 m) is for sale.
For those who love the classic boat with elegant clean lines from the late 1960s, with great leaps and bounds, and signed by the kings of designers of its time-Sparkman & Stephens. It was built, starting in 1967, in large series by Alpa of Offanengo (Cremona), Italy’s largest mass-produced boatyard at the time.
The model under review, visible in Lipari, is from 1974 and is powered by a 30-horsepower Faryman inboard. Complete with electronics and sail games, it has a mahogany interior.
Vindö 43 – 13.26 m – Nordic quality “top”
We go up in square footage for the fourth of the used boats for sale. A decidedly “out-of-the-box” model.
A sturdy and durable saloon-cruiser built by Regina af Vindö Yachts (formerly Rex Marine) on the island of Vindö on Sweden’s west coast, the Vindö 43 (13.26 x 3.98 m) is the perfect boat for long sailings. Quality craftsmanship, mahogany interior with lots of solid wood and beautiful details.
The decksaloon is bright, with a raised floor and 360-degree panoramic views when seated at the large chart table and indoor pilot seat.
There are two cabins: a spacious aft master cabin with a large double berth in the middle (and bath/shower stall) and a guest cabin in the bow also with a dedicated shower/toilet compartment. A very large galley, forward of the deck saloon and lowered, and a “lounge area” convertible to a berth complete the layout.
The boat is from 2003 and can be seen in Liguria. It is fully equipped for long sailing.
X-442 – 13.50 m – Race-bred cruiser-racer
We close our list of used boats with a thoroughbred cruiser-racer, which is a historic Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela.
In production since 1993, theX-442 (13.50 x 4.20 m) is a successful design by Niels Jeppesen (it underwent a slight restyling with the MKII version starting in 1999). In total, more than 100 examples have come out of the Danish shipyard. The construction is sandwich fiberglass integrated with a steel structure. The result is a boat with exceptional rigidity. A very fast boat, great for long cruises.
Sailing performance is at the highest level, especially upwind. The deck is functional with a large cockpit where a rudder wheel as large as 1.60 m in diameter towers. Inside, just down the ladder, there is a toilet on the left and the large chart on the right. A large square then opens up with a dinette on the left opposed to the kitchen. In the stern are two twin cabins and in the bow is a powder room with one or two cabins, depending on the version. Excellent finishes.
The model for sale, visible in Bari, is from 2000 (so MKII): it is in excellent condition.
