After a long wait – 16 years! – Livorno will have a new 815-berth marina for boats up to 80 m .
Marina di Livorno, how it will be
The Livorno Marina, this is the name of the facility whose work starts in April (closing in June 2026), was financed by the joint venture between D-Marin, a network of international ports that operates 26 “premium” marinas between the Mediterranean and Asia (and which recently acquired two Italian ports), and Azimut/Benetti Group, the world’s leading producer of superyachts.
The port is strategically located. The Tuscan Archipelago is only 35 miles away, Elba is 45 miles away, and Cinque Terre is 40 miles away.
Marina di Livorno, the investment
The estimated investment is about 14 or 15 million euros. The project by the Florence-based Archea studio includes renovation of the docks, construction of meeting spaces, and entertainment and leisure facilities. More than 220 sq. m. of the site will be reserved for restaurants, 60 sq. m. for bars, and 250 sq. m. will be devoted to offices instead. The first parts of the Livorno Marina will be made available to boaters before construction closes.
In terms of sustainability, the marina will use natural elements such as trees and hedges instead of fences, use solar panels to produce a significant portion of the energy, and recover rainwater to irrigate green areas.
Luca Salvetti, Mayor of Livorno, said, “Livorno will have its own marina. In early December, after 16 years, the procedure for the actual release of the concession was formalized and subsequently signed. So shortly, operations will get underway to build the Livorno Marina, which will enrich a part of the city that connects the city center to the waterfront.
Another piece has been fixed to the development, growth and transformation of Livorno, which will benefit with an important return from both a tourism and employment perspective. Thanks are due to all those who worked to achieve this goal, including the Livorno Yachting Industry, which obtained a 20-year concession with 450 berths“.
