Alpha Raymarine is the newdisplay designed for sailors and especially for racers. We tested the 9” versions (there is also a 9” version) aboard the new Felci 63 cruiser racer , along with a 22” Raymarine Axiom XL chartplotter. Simplicity is the watchword for describing the British company’s new repeater: in just a few intuitive screens, all of which can be customized, Effectively communicates a lot of information, including complex information.
Raymarine Alpha, the smart technology
It has a touch screen protected by a special film with nanotechnology that provides sensitivity in case it is wet or even greasy with sunscreen. Its strengths also include perfect vision even from extreme viewing angles and ease of mounting (it has only two inputs, one for power and data connection, one to join it in cascade with other Apha’s) both vertically and horizontally. Pre-formed brackets are also among the accessories.
Among the main functions of Alpha Raymarine: the SailPoint (a digital “crosshair” that indicates the optimal direction and speed to be kept towards the buoy or a waypoint); the 3D virtual compass, ideal especially during transfers and motor navigation; the dynamic visualization of information (the screen intelligently activates itself, for example, when there are changes in wind direction or intensity) and also the ability to choose whether to display information numerically or analogically.
But we explain everything in detail (including prices) in the video…
