Ice Yachts’ 54-footer is by far the most popular boat on the market among those from the Salvirola (CR) shipyard. With the first hull launched in 2020, the Ice 54 has been built to date in as many as twenty examples. The design was signed by Umberto Felci, a designer who has a long collaboration with the Cremonese shipyard, based on the previous 52-foot model.
What Ice 54 looks like
Improving on the excellent result achieved by the Ice 52, built to 2020 in 15 examples, was not a foregone conclusion. The reasons behind the birth of the Ice 54-which winks more at the cruise world-are to be found in the space and comfort needs of Ice owners. But also in the desire to create an elegant new boat with a refined design. Thus was born a unique boat in its segment, that of luxury performance-cruiser boats of 16-17 meters.
The deck plan of Ice 54 is rich and rationally organized. The three winches-two for the mainsail, one for the halyards-are accompanied by the electrically operated mainsail traveller, which can be operated directly from the helmsman’s station. The deck remains very clean because all rigging is concealed except for the jib sheet.
Compared to the Ice 52, the freeboard of this boat is 6 centimeters higher, the transom is a bit longer as is the dolphin house, which “gains” 50 centimeters compared to its younger sister. The hull laminate – vacuum infused with epoxy resin – on the Ice 54 is made of glass-carbon hybrid, which is very light and high performance. For this reason, the weight of the deck is all in all low, and is 730 kilograms in total.
Interior
As for the interior design, the goal of the designers was to make a more spacious second cabin with two separate beds. With this addition, the number of cabins aboard Ice 54 increases to three, with a total of six comfortable berths. In addition to the ensuite bathroom in the master cabin, the aft bathroom with separate shower stall is also enhanced on this boat, which manages to have significant dimensions, in fact it is a full 1.86 meters long.
The material chosen for the wooden interior is bleached oak, which gives-along with the lacquered surfaces-a minimal, elegant look to the vessel. The kitchen is equipped with all the amenities, from the oven to the maxi refrigerator (similar to the ones we have at home, mind you) to the dishwasher, with an island countertop that allows the cook to have plenty of space to use. Standard air conditioning system, also powered by a lithium battery pack with a 3-kw inverter, which avoids the installation of a generator.
