From Persico Marine came the new Luna Rossa: what will the future AC 75s look like?

This is it, the countdown is on, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli ‘s AC 75 has left Persico Marine, where it was built. It is headed to the base in Cagliari, where the outfitting of the boat will be completed, the launch will be carried out, and presumably the very first tests will take place before the transfer to Barcelona where the 2024 America’s Cup will be staged from August 22.
The web has been abuzz with comments from enthusiasts who are already imagining the livery and shape of the new Luna Rossa, but the extensive packaging hints as usual at little or nothing of what the future Italian AC 75 will be. Luna Rossa is the third to “churn out” its AC 75 in recent weeks, following Alinghi Red Bull Racing and defender Emirates Team New Zealand.
AC 75 : what will they be like?
For months there has been speculation about what the boats of the future America’s Cup will look like. While there is of course strict confidentiality from the teams, we can still try to imagine what shapes we will see in a few weeks.
With Formula 1 expert, sailor, and commentator for The Cup Newspaper, Federico Albano, we conducted a study of what the shapes and design choices of this new generation of AC 75s might look like. We “played” to compare solutions coming from the world of Formula 1 that might have similarities with the new AC 75.
We tried to imagine what boats will be, what aerodynamic solutions, what patterns to follow, and what to expect from foils. And more: how much faster will this generation of AC 75s go than the last?
