Lovers of small sports boats and monotypes, this one is for you: from an idea of sailor and entrepreneur Ludovico Fassitelli, with water lines and design by Umberto Felci, project manager Roberto Spata, comes the small Junda KII. A boat just over 5.80 meters long for one-design racing.
Junda KII – Like a Tp 52 in Miniature
The great particularity of this project, which was presented at the Primo Cup in Monte Carlo, is that it was designed for a crew of two. The sizing of the maneuvers and their organization, the sail plan, everything was designed for double-handling, just as requested by Fassitelli, an expert in one-design racing.
Aesthetically, the boat looks almost like a miniature Tp 52: taut bow but with not excessively fine volumes to ensure great planing in the stern, limiting the amount of heave. The stern is wide but not exaggerated, without the use of edges. The keel is T-shaped and the rudder blade single, while at the bow there is a large bowsprit for the gennaker, which will be rigged with a retriever to allow easy lowering of the sail, which will be done by one person.
Junda will have a totally green propulsion
The boat will obviously be driveable, and its other special feature is the system for installing the Torqueedo electric motor. Given the size, an outboard was unavoidable, but a system was devised that allows the engine to be lowered into the water by a simple gear and stored in a special compartment at the stern as soon as it is no longer needed.
All of the Junda’s propulsion will be eco, not just the engine; in fact, the sails were made by MNorth Sails, which tested its new Renew laminates for this project, made of 90 percentrecyclable material from plastic bottles. The only non-recyclable component of this sail is the 10 percent resins and adhesives used to make the laminate, but North is working to find an update.
