Ihe Dutch shipyard Saffier Yachts at BOOT Dusseldorf 2024 surprised everyone by unveiling the design of a 46-foot cruiser that we will see in the water presumably in a year’s time. If Saffier has come to conceive of a design for a boat that differs from its historical style, it is because it should now be regarded as a successful shipyard that owes its success to a very specific style of boats: daysailers.
Saffier SE 24 – Test
Indeed, the northern European house has historically specialized in building small and medium-sized boats dedicated to day trips. One of the very latest daysailers launched by the shipyard is the Saffier SE 24, fresh winner of the European Yacht of the Year, a small boat that can be customized in many details, has 100% electric propulsion, is easy to steer under sail even by one person, and is definitely fast.
We were in La Spezia to try her out, guests of Settemari Yacht, on a day that showed us the whole philosophy of this Dutch daysailer.
