5 used boats from 7.96 to 17.78 m
They are so different from each other, but they are all interesting models. From the IOR with the important pedigree to the vintage boat, from the cruiser that goes fast under sail to the one that is as comfortable as a house. We present them in ascending order of length. A safe used car: guarantees the Sailing Newspaper!
Sunny Temper – 7.96 m – Old boat makes good edge
The first of the used boats for sale on our classifieds market is a Sunny Temper (7.96 x 3.04 m), a glorious Minaldo VI Class IOR built of cedar planking in 1974 by the Simeone shipyards in Naples.
Why is this a glorious model? Because this small sloop, designed by engineer Mino Simeone, was a very fast, multi-winner boat on the IOR race courses of the time. He won a Ligurian championship and distinguished himself in many events (such as the Settimana Velica di Altura in Alassio). Between the 1980s and 1990s, owners kept the boat well, cruising and participating in club regattas.
But it was with the 2000s that the Sunny Temper made a comeback. Since that year, the boat has been registered with the AIVE, returned to racing on the Vintage Sails circuit, and achieved a series of victories and placings. Old boat makes good board!
Today, this “fifty-year-old” is waiting for you in Finale Ligure (Savona) and is complete with two mainsails, two spi, one blooper, two jibs, two genoa, one tormentin. The inboard V engine is 8 horsepower.
Show 29 – 8.97 m – Classic Boat signed Jezequel
The second of the used boats we show you today is a historic Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela, and that is one that is destined to grow in value over time. We are talking about a Show 29 (8.97 x 3.02 m).
This highly successful vtr model (about 300 examples from ’73 to ’86) is one of the masterpieces of Alain Jezequel, the French designer who was also the “daddy” of the first Grand Soleils. For nine meters, in those days, the living spaces above and below deck were top of the line.
The Show 29 then in light winds was a very fast boat because of the small wet surface. On deck appreciable the large cockpit that took advantage of the rather set back aft beam. The interiors were offered in two versions that differed in the arrangement of the galley, either amidships or at the foot of the entrance depending on whether the deckhouse was long or short.
A forward cabin with a double berth, a bathroom, a comfortable dinette and aft berths, at the sides of the cockpit.
The boat can be seen in Argostoli (Kefalonia) and is equipped with every convenience. It flies the Polish flag and is powered by Lombardini.

Bride of Denmark – 11.05 m – 60 years and not feeling it
The third of the boats used in the review is definitely out of the chorus. And also by time, since we are talking about a vintage one-off handcrafted in 1964 by Castiglione shipyards in Argentario.
It is called ” Bride of Denmark ” (11.05 m) and is made entirely of iroko wood.
Its history is curious because, initially, it was supposed to be a motor boat, a gozzo. But it was modified during construction to equip it with sails and a through mast.
Currently the boat, kept in excellent condition, can be seen in Bisceglie (Barletta-Andria-Trani), is rigged to sloop (with furling) and is motirized with a 100-horsepower turbodiesel.
Dufour 425 GL – 12.60 m – Cruiser, yes, but also fast
We leap forward in years with the fourth of the used boats “under the lens.” The comfortable cruiser Dufour 425 GL (12.60 x 4.16 m), which seamlessly combines a good-performance hull and generous speed deck (84 sq. m.) with a spacious and well-lived interior, thanks to Umberto Felci’s water lines and Patrick Roseo’s interiors. The design is from 2008, and the boat remained in production until 2011.
The deck has a clean and rational layout with ample space that can be devoted to sunbathing and a cockpit that can accommodate six people inside with great comfort.
The freeboard is high (this already “betrays” the presence of XXL volumes below deck), the foredeck upright while aft finds space for the openable spiaggetta. The deckhouse is low and unobtrusive and houses the mainsail carriage and all rigging on sight and deferred in the cockpit, which houses a table and double helm.
The boat was offered with three interior layouts. with two cabins and as many bathrooms, or with three cabins and two or three bathrooms.
The model for sale is from 2008 and has been maintained maniacally by its only owner. The fully accessorized boat is powered by a Volvo 55DS2 and can be seen in Pescara.
Jeanneau 57 – 17.78 m – Like a beach house
We close our review of used boats with a true XXL cruiser, what in 2o1o, the year of its design, was considered a flagship. The Jeanneau 57 (17.78 x 5.00 m).
Easy to use despite its large size. And comfortable as a home. These are the two main features of the boat designed by Philippe Briand in collaboration with Garroni Design studio (which signed the deck and interior).
The finishes are fine, the vessel was equipped with every convenience and was offered in different interior layout configurations, with 3, 4 or 5 cabins, to meet owner or charter requirements.
The model we offer, which can be seen in Liguria, is from 2011 and is in its owner version with three cabins and three bathrooms as well as a dedicated cabin for a possible crew. Comforts on board are many, from the bow thruster to make it easier for you to maneuver in port to air conditioning in all cabins and the saloon. And then generator, hydraulic retractable gangway, etc, etc. There is also a video that will get you on board!
