COMET 383

Comar; 11.8 x 3.6 m; 1985; Groupe Finot

Comar again marries the pencil of Groupe Finot and signs a new 11-meter whose main objective is the combination of comfort, class and performance. Comet 383 was born, built in as many as 28 examples in just two years. It is a sporty hull, streamlined in its lines as well as its profiles, the deckhouse is low, tapering but soft, the stern wide. The launch statement was, indeed, “Class and Performance.”

X-119

X-Yachts; 12 x 3.25 m; 1988; Niels Jeppesen

Along the lines of the X-79 and X-99, in 1985 Jeppesen signed a one-off for a major Swedish publisher. The boat is a little gem and X launches the series. The X-119, a 74-unit success story in 4 years, is born. It is, in fact, the right choice for those looking for a fast, pleasant racer/cruiser out without handicap. The cockpit is wide, the deckhouse anvil, high, true to the X philosophy, T-shaped keel. A little missile.

OCEANIS (CLIPPER) 400

Beneteau 12.19 x 3.91 m; 1991; Groupe Finot

It is an evolution of the previous Oceanis 390, and it has plenty of merit. Groupe Finot revises the predecessor and redesigns the hull. The overall length increases, as does the length at the waterline, increasing the forward dive. The keel now has two winglets, while the sail area increases in turn. The result is a superior hull, docile on wave passage and with an improved center of gravity, good bowline. In short, a new and comfortable cruiser whose success can be read in the numbers: 430 examples in just five years.

The three steps to enhance your Classic Boat

Well, is your boat a Classic Boat? Now we explain how to dignify Classic Boats by Journal of Sailing and increase their value. We have created a network of professionals dedicated to precisely this enhancement.

  • The first mandatory step in enhancing the value of a historic Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela is appraisal. We have identified two “top” appraisers(Davide Zerbinati and Danilo Fabbroni) who can draw up a real Classic Boat certification and see the historical value of the boat recognized. Only by careful analysis of the state of the property and its maintenance over the years, as well as checking that the original design has not been distorted, can its value be certified.
  • Insurance is the second essential step, after the appraisal. Today it is difficult for an insurance company to value a boat that is at least 25 years old for its true value.
