How to have a quieter, more stable and safer mooring? It’s as simple as that, just install a shock absorber that goes to mitigate the movement of the mooring lines, so as to keep the boat steadier (even in undertow) and avoid the classic squeaking that keeps us from sleeping at night. Here’s how the ones in Douglas Marine’s Master Mooring line work.

Made in Italy since 1976
Douglas Marine is an Italian company based in Segrate, Milan, where it was born almost 50 years ago, in 1976. It is known for being the first company to introduce stainless steel in its products for compression mooring cushioning, and is therefore a pioneer in this specific field of marine accessories.
Over the years Douglas Marine has distinguished itself by designing numerous products for anchoring and mooring, areas in which it still holds numerous patents. The entire design and production line is in-house, from the study phase through the production chain to the testing and quality control phase. This allows Douglas Marine to be in control of the entire process leading to the birth of its products at all times, being able to intervene with minor changes if necessary.
Douglas Marine mooring dampers.
Douglas Marine’s range of mooring dampers is suitable for vessels from 1 to 900 tons and is marketed in more than 95 countries worldwide, with dedicated customer service always ready to respond to customer needs.
The main line of Douglas Marine branded shock absorbers is the Master Mooring range. Part of this range are high-strength shock absorbers, suitable for boats up to 40 meters in length and from 7 up to 350 tons in weight. They are shock absorbers with internal end stops, which do not require a restraining chain and provide progressive cushioning. The use of special elastomers and high-strength stainless steel enable Master Mooring line dampers to maintain their capabilities unchanged at any temperature (-40° to + 120°) and for a long time, withstanding more than 400,000 cycles (tested) of maximum compression. They also have a small weight and footprint, up to a quarter less than other competing products.
Having a shock absorber installed keeps the boat much more stable, increasing not only safety but also the comfort of those on board. It is basically a mandatory accessory for boaters (it really changes your life if you spend long periods on board), but it is recommended for any boat owner. Even if only to eliminate the annoying squeaking of the ropes during mooring, especially during the night hours
