5 used boats from 8.72 to 15.49 m

There are as many as three Classic Boats (by Jezequel, Vallicelli, and Farr), but they are all interesting models. We present them in ascending order of length. A safe used car: guarantees the Sailing Newspaper!

Aloa 29 – 8.72 m – That great genius Finot

The first of the used boats for sale in our marketplace comes straight from the 1970s. Since 1972, precisely, when theAloa 29 (8.72 x 3.10 m) was launched, built by the French shipyard Aloa Marine and designed by Jean-Marie Finot.

The boat was born with the idea of being used as a coastal cruiser and for medium and short-range sailing. It was received in the market as an innovative vessel, both in terms of its lines and interior configuration. The hull was wide for the time (3.10 m), its shape “flat,” and with solid construction. When sailing, the boat was all in all fast, with good course stability, especially at the lift-offs. It was also easy to lead, with all maneuvers deferred to the cockpit.

Below deck, spaces were larger than in boats of similar size: two V-shaped berths found space in the bow, with the owner’s berth aft on the starboard side (another berth on the port side). The saloon was comfortable, with galley broadside to port, dining table to starboard, and bathroom between the dinette and forward cabin.

The Aloa 29 remained in production until 1982, with a total of 320 hulls built. The model we offer is from 1975 and is complete with every convenience, including anchor windlass. The engine, from 1994, has been overhauled and runs perfectly. Attractive price.

Grand Soleil 343 – 10.40 – Classic Boat signed Jezequel

The second of the used boats under the lens is a“Historic Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela,” so its value is likely to grow over time. It is a Grand Soleil 343 (10.40 x 3.42 m), designed by Alain Jezequel.

Two years passed from the Grand Soleil 39 and, in 1985, its smaller brother, the Grand Soleil 343, was born. Same classic line, equal ability to be fast but also comfortable. One of the earliest examples of a boat of even 11 meters with the highest quality and design.

The elegant lines and non-exaggerated parameters of Alain Jezequel’s design make it a classic boat that even with the advent of IMS racing regulations has proven to fare well in racing. The interior features the usual “Pardian” attention to detail. The layout includes two spacious cabins, one aft and the other forward, both with double berths.

Toilets with waxed closet, charting and L-arranged galley are aft, immediately to either side of the entrance. The dinette is central, the table with a fold-down door. Functional and ergonomic is the typical Mediterranean-style cockpit with tiller steering. Easy adjustment of the sail plan that uses a masthead rig.

The boat for sale can be seen in Argentario, Tuscany, and is from 1989. It is equipped with every convenience and has been recently overhauled. A little gem!

Oceanis Clipper 343 – 10.82 m – What an aft cabin!

The third of the boats used in the review is a pure cruiser, very comfortable despite its small size. We are talking about a Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 343 (10.82 x 3.48 m).

New for 2005 in the Oceanis range designed by Berret-Racoupeau, this 34-footer features a two-tier deckhouse that connects well with the hull. Spacious and well-lit by the fenestration were the interiors, which were offered in two versions, with two and three caine.

In the first case the owner’s cabin was aft arranged transversely to the hull and was of a really large size (with the other double forward), in the second aft found space for two doubles.

The model for sale on our marketplace, which can be seen in Cala Galera, is from 2006: it has had a single owner and has never been chartered. The version is the two-cabin version with the XXL aft one. Instrumentation is complete and the boat is ready to sail.

Genesis 43 – 13.10 m – Vallicelli’s “boat that wasn’t there”

Let’s proceed with the fourth of the used boats for sale in our marketplace. Once again a historic Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela, a Genesi 43 (13.10 x 4.02 m) signed by the great Andrea Vallicelli.

Used boats – Genesis 43

Never had anyone dared so much. The Genesis 43 is a boat born to break the mold and has a design never seen before. All of the components are made exclusively for her; you won’t find them on the market. The result is a boat out of the chorus, full of ingenious solutions. Unique.

Production of this innovative sloop did not begin well, caught up in the difficulties of the Comar shipyard in the early 1990s. The boat, however, was so “ahead” that Comar’s new management then reintroduced it with some modifications. First made in 1991, the design was by Andrea Vallicelli, who designed a boat with streamlined lines, characterized by a futuristic deckhouse with a dark central window that gives light to the interior.

The deck equipment is very rich and the cockpit is sufficiently comfortable. The sail plan has a large extended mainsail and a self-tacking jib rigged to 7/8.

The interiors are richly finished and include three cabins, two bathrooms, and a large saloon with a galley at the side and an elliptical-shaped dinette. In the bow is a convenient stowage cove.

The model under review, which can be seen at Marina Sant’Andrea in San Giorgio di Nogaro (Udine), is from 1997 and is fresh from routine and extraordinary maintenance. It is in top condition.

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 51 – 15.49 m – Revolutionary

We close our list of used boats with the latest historical Classic Boat by Giornale della Vela, namely a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 51 (15.49 x 4.88 m). A boat destined not to lose its value, indeed…

Used boats – Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 51

At the 1989 Paris Boat Show, it stunned visitors because of the double rudders in the cockpit, until then the prerogative of sport boats. There is the hand of crest-of-the-wave designer Bruce Farr (with the collaboration of Slovenians J&J), who has come up with an innovative cruiser that is fast, easy to handle, and has beautiful lines. It went down a storm, setting the new standard for cruisers.

It is one of the most comfortable boats in its class, and was in production from 1989 to 1996 and allows good sailing performance from medium wind up. In light weather it struggles only because it has little canvas, try it with a spi or gennaker in carrying winds, it will excite you.

The line, despite the utmost search for volume, maintains its own grace. Large sunbathing areas and sea platform. The interior is the work of specialist Andrew Winch, who envisioned three- and four-cabin versions, each with its own toilet. The central area takes advantage of the maximum beam of as much as 4.85 m. It feels like a living room at home, and the kitchen is no different.

The model we offer, in excellent condition (90 hp Lombardini engine replaced in 2006) and equipped with up-to-date deck equipment and electronics, is from 1991. It has two refrigerators, five cabins and five bathrooms, elegant green alcantara interior: ready to sail.
