This year the Poles at Viko Yachts are preparing to make a quantum leap with the new Stratos 43, a low-cost cruising boat but with an Italian heart. Born from a collaboration with Studio Cossutti-Ganz Yacht Design, already the sole designer of the Bavaria sailing range, this will be the first boat over 10 meters from the Polish shipyard, which is thus set to compete with the most important European brands and beyond. The boat will be officially unveiled at Boot Düsseldorf (Jan. 20-28), but the first renderings have already been published. We will have to wait until 2025 to see it in the water.
Stratos 43: a modern, stylish and sporty low-cost cruiser
Polish shipyard Viko Yachts continues to grow. After launching a 35-footer in 2019, he is now breaking through the 40-foot wall with an idea in mind: to build a beautiful, fast boat without a lot of complications, but with an eye for style.
Looking at the first renderings of Stratos 43 we can see a decidedly modern look of the hull, with a slightly inverted bow, integrated delphiniera, and a double edge, one of which is positioned at the top, near the foresail. A solution that gives internal volume to the boat while maintaining a fairly sporty profile.
The cockpit is well protected, with an openable stern, thanks to the swim platform that folds down and turns into a bathing beach. A self-tacking jib is provided, as are genoa carriages on the deckhouse.
For the interior, there is a choice of two aft cabins or one cabin and a large locker. The salon layout of the Stratos 43 is standard: as soon as we enter from the tambour we will find a bathroom with separate shower on the left and an L-shaped galley to starboard. There is a U-shaped lounge in the dinette on the side of the kitchen and a sofa with chart table in front. Interestingly, the mast is located far aft, in the middle of the table in the dinette, this results in a longer J and thus a larger headsail.
Attractive prices and future plans
The launch price, at this pre-order stage, of Viko Stratos 43 has been set at 168,000 euros (vat exc. and ex-works). A bargain when compared with the competition, whose prices are around 270/300 thousand euros.
To see it live we will have to wait until Boot Düsseldorf 2025, where the first hull will be displayed. But that’s not all from Poland yet, if this boat is going to be a success (and we are sure it will be given the premises), it seems that there are already plans on the table for a Stratos 50!
