Classic Boats of historical value by Giornale della Vela are now 201! Two hundred and one boats, and many to come, that are, and can, rightly, gain in value, finally receiving the recognition they deserve.
There are, in fact, boats that are worth more than others. Hulls that, in short, have taken on new value over time, and will be worth even more in the future. These are precisely the Classic Boats by Giornale della Vela, boats built in fiberglass and in series since 1967 and with a minimum of 25 years on their backs. These are boats selected on the basis of very specific canons, transcending the age of the artifact and focusing on its intrinsic historical value, from the overall design qualities and originality of the boat in its context. We have identified precisely 201 of them (HERE) (with boat sheet, measurements, year of design, market quotations) but the list is constantly being updated and you can suggest in the comments.
Classic Boat: 7 new entries of historical value (10 to 18 meters)
So let’s take a look at the 7 first boats of this latest update, six hulls between 10 and 18 meters that, by quality of design and design insights or by special events, have made sailing history.
RUSTLER 36
Rustler Yachts (Orion Marine); 10.77 x 3.35; m 1980; Holman & Pye
Classic lines, heavy displacement, long keel and impeccable marine capabilities. It is a cult of British boating, a solid, durable boat and, basically, a bluewater with a handle: it goes everywhere. Not surprisingly, he won the Golden Globe Race, the solo “vintage” round-the-world race. And it remains a top boat for this type of activity-a must for serious sailing. And it is still in production!

NAJAD 370
Najad; 11.25 x 3.73 m; 1991; Thorwald Karlsson
A classic Scandinavian bluewater, it is a marine and powerful hull, strong with a well-protected and dry central cockpit. Rational and clean decks make it an easy-to-manage design, with the maneuvers well reported, while the water lines make it docile and safe. Despite the volumes, it also maintains a certain elegance. A good 37-footer for deep-sea cruising.

J/42
J/Boats; 12.80 x 3.72 m; 1995; Johnstone
It is one of Johnstone’s many signature successes, a boat with a classic profile, yet profoundly modern for its time. The materials are innovative, the structure is solid, yet lightweight, and the performance is designed to be easy to handle. A cruiser suitable for even very small crews, however, capable of racing.

J/130
J/Boats; 13.00 x 3.9 m; 1992; Johnstone
A nimble and fast ULDB, it has been a popular hull, especially in the U.S. Another great design by Johnstone, which, here, well hybridizes the lightness and fast pitch principles of Ultra Light Displacement with a layout that allows for easy enjoyment, even with a small crew. Narrow beam and bulb make it a good performer, but cruising is not ruled out.

OCEANIS (CLIPPER) 440 / 44 CC
Beneteau; 13.59 x 4.27; 1992; Bruce Farr
In just 4 years, over 200 hulls have been produced between these two models, similar, yet so different. Bruce Farr signs the 440 for Beneteau, offering two variants: the 440, designed for charter, lighter by 2 tons, and the 44CC, mid-cockpit, for owner use, a more cruising hull, optimized for long stays aboard. The numbers speak volumes, a success. (Clipper designation varies according to the target market).

MOODY 46
Moody; 14.06 x 4.40 m; 1997; Bill Dixon
Signed by Bill Dixon and produced from 1997 to 2001, the Moody 46 was a moderate success for the shipyard, built 55 examples in just 4 years. Central cockpit, voluminous interior and a rational deck immediately made it a must among deep-sea cruising enthusiasts.

WAUQUIEZ 60
Wauquiez; 18.6 x 5.05 x m; 1992; Ed Dubois
Livier Prouvost, at the time president of the Wauquiez Group, defined the 60′ as the haute couture of yachting. Whether one agrees with it or not, signed by Dubois, the Wauquiez 60 was indeed a boat that knew how to make its mark, a quality cruiser, with marine lines, powerful, and strong comfort in abundance. Peculiar is the high, wide-glazed deckhouse, a legacy of 1980s experimentation.
