Classic Boats of historical value by Giornale della Vela are now 201! Two hundred and one boats, and many to come, that are, and can, rightly, gain in value, finally receiving the recognition they deserve.

There are, in fact, boats that are worth more than others. Hulls that, in short, have taken on new value over time, and will be worth even more in the future. These are precisely the Classic Boats by Giornale della Vela, boats built in fiberglass and in series since 1967 and with a minimum of 25 years on their backs. These are boats selected on the basis of very specific canons, transcending the age of the artifact and focusing on its intrinsic historical value, from the overall design qualities and originality of the boat in its context. We have identified precisely 201 of them (HERE) (with boat sheet, measurements, year of design, market quotations) but the list is constantly being updated and you can suggest in the comments.

Classic Boats: SUN ODYSSEY 26

Jeanneau; 7.59 x 2.97 m; 1998; Philippe Briand

Developed from the hull of the just previous Sun Fast, the Sun Odyssey 26 was a hull of no small success, with over 240 units built by the French shipyard. Also available in a version with a movable daggerboard, it drew the good speed qualities from its older sister, but reduced its “nervousness” thanks to a less powerful sail plan and a more manageable deck in a smaller crew.

MISTRESS 32

Hallberg Rassy; 9.70 x 2.84 m; 1969; Olle Enderlein

A great exception among the yard’s boats, the Mistress 32 was designed for racing, although it was also best equipped for cruising. An exceptional Half Tonner with a narrow beam and great leaps, it was a resounding success signed Enderlein, with over 110 hulls produced in just 5 years. A great treat by Hallberg Rassy

BALTIC 35

Baltic Yachts; 10.62 x 3.51 m; 1984; Judel & Vrolijk

It is the first production boat designed by Judel & Vrolijk for Baltic, an immediate success. Small but bulky, fast and bolinier, but perfect for cruising, it was an excellent design in terms of meeting a need, offering a comfortable, safe, and high-performance hull to those seeking a ten-meter with impeccable qualities. The super-rational blanket makes it manageable even with “few arms.”

FEELING 356

Kirie; 10.30 x 3.50 m; 1997; J&J

A versatile and reliable cruising boat, it was a design by J&J for the French company Kiriè, especially popular on the Atlantic sides of France, where the folding keel gave its best, offering more than more conventional solutions. The stepped stern and rational deck then made it an even more popular boat with cruisers.

DEHLER 36

Dehler Yachts; 11.01 x 3.50 m; 1990; Van de Stadt

Van de Stadt signed a hull that, in terms of originality and innovation, was destined to contribute to the yard’s fame. Classic Boats. SWAN 37

Nautor Swan; 11.13 x 3.25 m; 1970; Sparkman & Stephens

Abundant slips, narrow and high stern, deckhouse still raised, no flush deck. She is an early Swan, a classic hull, a child of the Sparkman & Stephens approach of the late 1960s. She is elegant, clean, still mindful of the lines of the 36′ and 43′. A beautiful boat, a piece of history.
