The Grand Soleil 65 LC is Cantiere del Pardo’s newest boat for the 2023-24 season, as well as the second boat ever produced above 60′ by the Forli-based company. The boat was previewed at the Cannes and Genoa boat shows, where it was among the most visited models. Cantiere del Pardo is having an excellent time, both commercially and in brand perception, and the 65 LC together with the 72 contribute significantly to increasing the prestige of the Shipyard.
The Grand Soleil 65 LC is a true blue water cruiser equipped with a panoramic deckhouse and raised dinette to enjoy the indoor-outdoor view. At the Cannes Yachting Festival we were on board in the company of Franco Corazza, Cantiere del Pardo’s project manager for boats 60 feet and up, and designer Matteo Polli. Also with us on board was Cesare Fabbri, manager of the B&G instruments installed aboard the boat.

The hull is made of biaxial fiberglass vinylester resin infusion and unidirectional carbon fabrics. The longitudinal and transverse structures, as well as the load-bearing areas of the hull, are laminated in fiberglass and stiffened with unidirectional carbon reinforcements.
The naval architecture of the Grand Soleil 65, designed by Matteo Polli, aims to achieve the same goals as the Grand Soleil 72, declined on a smaller scale.
“The hull shape, for example, retains the pronounced V at the bow and the same reduced wetted surface area as the Grand Soleil 72 to ensure less drag, greater dynamic stability when the boat is heeling and better performance in light winds.” Polli explains. “However, the overall geometry has been totally revised to ensure balanced weight distribution regardless of different interior layouts. The hull is designed to give great performance in all displacement conditions, whether the boat is lightened for racing or is fully loaded when cruising.”
The study of the boat’s buoyancy with different loads was one of Matteo Polli’s focuses, whose goal was to make a boat that would restore the pleasure of sailing in a wide range of conditions. It was not so much pure performance that was the focus of the water lines, since we are not talking about a racing boat, but rather to ensure the pleasure of sailing, also made up of good performance but not only that.
Grand Soleil 65 LC – Nauta Design Signature Deck and Interior
“The deck design of the 65LC has no unevenness, ensuring safety and agility on board, both while sailing and at anchor,” says Massimo Gino of Nauta Design. “In navigation, safety is ensured by paramare of correct height, while the pronounced deckhouse gives balance and makes the boat’s profile streamlined. The family feeling, typical of the Grand Soleil range, is easily recognizable in the deckhouse that seems to float suspended above the teak guardrails that shelter the maneuvering cockpit“.
Below deck, the Grand Soleil 65LC differs slightly from the Performance version. The salon, located elevated above the cabins to leave room for the engine room, houses a relaxation room and dining area. This solution allows more space in the two aft cabins, which are larger due to the absence of the technical compartment usually located between them. This layout also provides other advantages: the salon closer to the cockpit level allows for a smaller scale. Finally, taking full advantage of the maximum beam, this arrangement gives a 270-degree view of the outdoors. The Grand Soleil 65LC includes the galley amidships, thus creating one large open space joined to the living area.
