ACCESSORIES - Three smarts to have on board in 2024
ACCESSORIES – Three smarts to have on board in 2024

Among the news coming from the world of nautical accessories, we found three must-have goodies. These are three very different items, but each in its own way very useful to have on board. An inflatable tender that weighs 11 kilograms, a very powerful manual watermaker, and a bucket with a non-slip Vibram base. Find out about them with us!

The ultra-lightweight, ultra-compact and “keel-less” tender

Tender EZraft Package
Tender EZraft Package

EZraft weighs 11 kilograms and fits in a bag that takes up very little space in the lockers. His secret? Being a trimaran. Brilliant!

There is a dinghy that weighs only 11 kg and, enclosed in a bag, measures only 80 x 30 x 30 cm, ideal for stowing in a locker or car trunk. The secret of the new EZRaft is in its structure: it is a trimaran. The center hull increases carrying capacity as well as making sailing more stable. There is no need for any keel; the center tube itself takes care of the weight of the crew.

In addition, EZrafts have strong external sewn connections, and thus are much stronger than glued or welded connections as on traditional inflatable boats. Integrated telescoping paddles fold and stow with the dinghy. Included in the kit is an electric pump with which to inflate and deflate the tender in minutes. The 2.50 m long model costs 880 euros, the 2.80 model is priced at 1,240 euros. There is also a 3.10 m long version that costs 1,580 euros.

Boat accessories. Fresh water for all, at low cost and without electricity

QuenchSea Manual Desalinator
QuenchSea Manual Desalinator

Who said the desalinator is just “big boat stuff”? QuenchSea is the new environmentally friendly handheld, portable and low-cost ($150) watermaker capable of producing up to 4 liters of fresh water per hour. His secret? QuenchSea has a triple integrated ultrafiltration and microfiltration system to remove suspended solids, pathogens, parasites and microplastics. The system uses an advanced, state-of-the-art industrial reverse osmosis membrane. Seawater is demineralized at a pressure of 55 bar to 60 bar (6000 kPa) through a semipermeable membrane. Plus, you take it wherever you want thanks to the handy handle.

The ultimate super boat bucket

Performance bucket Huck

On board, buckets often slide to starboard and port, depending on the angle of the boat. The idea, as simple as Columbus’ egg, came from the American company Huck with its Performance Bucket. A true “superskull” that, in addition to being made of top-quality polymers that are resistant to UV rays and the marine climate, has non-slip Vibram non-marking rubber feet that prevent it from moving, plus keep it elevated off the ground, allowing any water flows to flow through. Its other strengths are the side handles, to help with pouring operations, and the grid that further reinforces the bottom of the bucket, in case of high loads.
