School for those who dream of working on boats is born

You are a boy who loves the sea, you have finished middle school or finished high school, and you don’t know what to do with your life. You will immediately find work in the boating world by attending the first “public school for boating” in Italy, in La Spezia. The new public course lasts 5 years, is part of the curriculum of the “G. Capellini – N. Sauro” Institute of Higher Education and includes periods of boarding students, so as to provide them with adequate theoretical and practical training and prepare them to become professional figures ready for the labor market. As one of the promoters, former Olympian Franco Pivoli, explains well in the video below, the “public recreational school” responds to a dramatic shortage of dedicated recreational boating professionals.

Get a job now

Just think of the difficulty of finding really capable skippers for charter boats, but also the difficulty of boatyards in finding people who really know, first-hand, what is really needed in a boat and how to install onboard equipment. Not forgetting, conduction, safety and how to handle breakdowns, snags and emergencies.
This initiative is a tremendous opportunity for young people to find immediate employment and fulfill their passion for the sea and boats.

Becoming a recreational professional

Specifically, the boating school offers pre- and post-high school diploma training to young people interested in a career that finds an outlet in the marine recreational marine industry, particularly to fill deck and engine positions in Italian and foreign yachts and pleasure vessels, but also toward the many multifaceted professions that the boating industry requires, including within shipyards.
