There are already 30 boats registered, cruising and racing boats, Classic Boats and brand new boats launched this last season, there is something for all tastes and sizes! At the VELA Cup Sicilia comes the Classic Boats
There are still very few days left until the start of the VELA Cup Sicilia, the last event of this season. Big news this year is the new Classic Boat category, for all those boats, including production and fiberglass boats, more than 25 years old. Prominent among them is Roman Off, Roberto Romano’s Beneteau First 38 s5, a 1994 fast cruiser whose interior was designed by archistar Philippe Starck. Also at the VELA Cup Sicilia are the Mario Badami’s 1987 Grand Soleil 343, successor to the successful Grand Soleil 34; Altrove, a fully customized 1994 Barberis Show 325 with a redesigned and rebuilt interior owned by Marco Cerrito; and L’or du Temps, the school boat of the Lipari LNI, a 1982 Beneteau First 30.

Cruising or Sport? The important thing is to all have fun together
The VELA Cup, you know by now, is a regatta for everyone. You don’t need a set of racing sails to participate, just a mainsail and jib to enter in the Cruising Boat category. Here then are such vessels as Erato, Carmelo Fichera’s Tartan 4300, a beautiful American boat with a classic design, Tychè, the Elan 40 of Rossella Alessandrini and Emilio Rotondi, in its third participation in the VELA Cup at Capo d’Orlando, First Lady, Giuseppe Sgroi’s Beneteau First 31.7, Nemoran, a 2011 SLY 48C by Claudio Benedetto, or the brand newOceanis46.1 by Spartivento Yachts & Charter, Logos helmed by Sergio Ottinetti.
For those who are more sporty, however, and want to use spi, gennaker and 0-tails, there is then the Sport Boat category. These include Bluebeard, Alfredo Barbaro‘s splendid Solaris 40; Kundalini, Roberto Randazzo‘s Cobra 33; and Mascalzone Siculo, Emanuele Cosio‘s Beneteau First 45 SK.
