The Cup Newspaper – The big themes of the debate

Although the three-day Vilanova event was stingy in terms of the number of races held, there was no shortage of hot topics. One above all, of course, was the weather conditions, which influenced the course of the races and put the emphasis on how important it will be to best interpret wave and light wind on future AC 75s.

Then there is the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli issue, which did not shine in Catalonia despite confirming itself as one of the most solid teams despite little training time on the AC 40. Luna Rossa’s people have made it clear, however, the Preliminary Regattas are their own thing, they are not the real America’s Cup which is the great and true goal of the whole campaign.

Topics of debate included a passage on the negative performance of Ineos Britannia, always at the back of the fleet. But as even Luna Rossa’s men say, this is not yet the real America’s Cup, although losing though doesn’t please anyone.
