  • Can any boat participate?

Yes. The regatta is open to boats of all types, sizes and years, with no red tape or technical complications. No rating certificates or racing sails are needed.

  • I don’t feel like using the gennaker or spinnaker, does it make sense to participate?

At the VELA Cup, you don’t need to be a sailing champion to win. If you don’t feel like a committed racer, you can choose to participate in the “Cruising Boat” category, where only white sails are sailed, with a dedicated leaderboard.

  • I have a crew of experienced sailors, will we have fun too?

Of course! If you have the soul of a racer and a competitive crew, sign up in the “Sport Boat” category, you can use as many sails as you want(drifters, code 0s, gennakers, spinnakers, whippers, etc.).

  • What is the route like?

The course is coastal, starting in front of the Capo d’Orlando Marina, buoys at the Brolo Rock and the Capo d’Orlando Lighthouse and back. It is about 12 miles of sailing, with course reduction in case of low wind.

  • How do you sign up and how much does it cost?

Registration is already open and you can do it online at www.velacup.it or directly at Marina Capo d’Orlando starting Friday, October 6. The cost depends on the size of the boat but is from 110 euros.
