In 1973 it was Baume & Mercier’s turn to make headlines with the launch of the Riviera line of watches inspired by the colors and atmosphere of the French Riviera. Twenty years pass and Audemars Piguet presents the first example of the Royal Oak Offshore collection that has also gone down in history for a limited edition designed to celebrate Alinghi’s historic America’s Cup victory in 2003. In this regard, the America’s Cup proves to be an extraordinary reservoir of ideas. To the appearances of Omega alongside Emirates Team New Zealand and Panerai aboard Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team is the entry on the scene today of Tudor as well. The maison will fly over the water together with the Swiss AC75, which returns to the scene of this competition after a long hiatus. And, still on the topic of special anniversaries, 2023 also coincides with 5 years since the launch of Sea Time. The success, in terms of consensus and approval, recorded by the special confirms the goodness of an editorial formula whose goal is to bring back to the surface, from the depths of the abyss, the many sea stories that accompany these uniquely fascinating timepieces. Yes, because it is not just a matter of mechanics, of precision. What makes them unique is the ability they still have to convey boundless emotions, just like the sea.
