Five great Classic Boats as told by our readers
We asked you to tell us about your Classic Boat, your over-25-year-old boats-serious and non-serious-and you have done so by the hundreds, continually enriching and updating the page devoted to them (you will find it HERE), a kind of encyclopedia now, an archive where anyone can enter, tell, and see their boat celebrated (HERE find out how). From time to time, therefore, it is only right to highlight these projects as well, a celebration of your boats, those same boats that you in the first place have chosen to share with us and the many enthusiasts. As we have done other times, then, here are five more wonderful Classic Boats as told by you.
Do you have a Classic Boat to report? Are you a Classic Boat owner? Place it in our archive at

One S Lady B
– Solaris One S
Built in 1990 compared to previous Solaris One S examples. (Doug Peterson, 1984), One S Lady B has some variations from the original deck plans, such as the height of the deckhouse being more connected to the deck itself, or the different inclination of the transom and the different sizing of the cockpit. Solutions that make the lines more pleasing and, above all, the aft cabin and the saloon truly airy.
As in all Solaris, the teak interiors are top notch, as are the fixtures and fittings. In this latest version and with these characteristics, perhaps this is the only specimen.

The Winds 2nd – C&C 37
Designed by Cuthbertson and Cassian, the C&C 37 features very classic lines combined with excellent seaworthiness, proving to be a well-sailed, sturdy boat, albeit one with reduced habitability relative to its length. Modern for the time, it offers all maneuvering in the cockpit, is skegless (but with a giant rudder shaft), and made of Airex sandwich.
Constantly updated, now has new bow thruster, black water tank, full batten mainsail on Arken rail, complete and interconnected electronics. Ergo, usually the crew consists of my wife and me. And we are not athletic or young …

Classic Boats. Athena
– Sangermani 48 S&S
Athena is a 48-foot Sangermani designed by Sparkman & Stephens and, for all intents and purposes, is the grandmother of the Swan 48. Shortly after Sangermani made the hull, in fact, the design of Athena (originally “Splash”), was purchased by Nautor Swan to bring to life the molds of the best-selling Swan48!
After 16 years of “seclusion” in a shed, Athena saw the light again in 2020. Taken care of since the beginning of her new life by Professional Commander and Owner in love, she has undergone major upgrades and improvements always in full compliance with the initial style and design (mast, deck equipment, instrumentation, etc.). Atena routinely sails the waters of the Venice lagoon for pleasure and participates in events dedicated to classic boats in the Adriatic, with good results and turning quite a few heads. She placed 136th at the windy Barcolana 2022 with amateur crew and improves her placings in AIVE circuit regattas year after year.

Tagula II
– CBS Serenity
CBS Serenity built in 1979 at the CBS shipyards in Fiumicino, Tagula II is serial no. 071, a design with an angular hull and balsa and fiberglass construction signed by Aldo Renai. The all-wood interior accommodates 7 berths between the forward cabin, dinette, sailor’s bed and aft cabin while, motorization, is provided by a 21-hp Nanni diesel, replaced in 1992. The deck equipment has also been upgraded, with Harken and Lewmar accessories.
It has been owned by my family since 1981, and I learned to sail on this boat from the age of 6. Over the course of his 44 years, he sailed the seas of Sardinia, Corsica, Elba, Capraia, Pontine Islands, Sicily, Egadi Islands, and the Amalfi Coast. She has participated in numerous regattas including the Asteria Cup, Riva per tutti, Lunga Bolina and Fiumicino Winter Championships, winning during the 35th winter championship 1st place in IRC and ORC in the Tecno cruise grouping and winning the City of Fiumicino Trophy.Currently moored in the port of Riva di Traiano she blissfully enjoys her old age and her successes, pampered and continuously maintained by me and the third generation of my family.

Classic Boats. Mä Vista
– Sangermani 1972
The last boat designed by Cesare Sangermani for himself. Launched in 1972 in Lavagna, she is a cupped hull of rare beauty, strong with important soaring and incredible deck lines.
Restored in 2018, it has since been participating with some regularity in AIVE regattas in the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea.
