A heritage, in short, that is far from forgotten and which, indeed, more and more enthusiasts are celebrating, as is well demonstrated by our section dedicated to Your Classic Boats. So here is a small selection of these over 25-year-old masterpieces, 5 magnificent Classic Boats narrated by you.
SV/Kalos | Baltic 38 DP
The Baltic 38 DP was an excellent example of one of the successful production yachts of the shipyard’s namesake, Baltic. Designed in 1982 by in vogue naval architect Doug Peterson, 55 of these authentic racer/cruisers were built, proving that racing, ease of maneuvering, and cruising ability could coexist in the same hull.
The ergonomics of the bridge were designed with both cruising and racing in mind. It had to work for both a large racing crew and a couple. The deck is carefully designed, comfortable and easy to work with even for a small crew. The housing benefited from the idea of tilting the position of the bulkheads so as to make the most of the interior space. In those days narrow-end hull shapes were the norm, guided mainly by the International Offshore Racing Rule (
IOR
). Many 38 have run successfully in Europe and the United States.

Jancris | Super ketch Mikado 56
Jancris is a 1983 fiberglass Ketch of such great quality that she is in top shape and still cruising the seas of the world. Designed by architect Bigoin, former designer of a Pen Duik and Tabarly’s Club Med, it was built in a hundred or so units. With JANCRIS, which my wife and I have owned since 1992, we have sailed more than 120,000 miles and completed the 1998/2000 MILLENNIUM ODYSSEY round-the-world race finishing third overall out of 65 participating boats.
We then sailed from Turkey to Brazil and then as far north as Canada, JANCRIS has also been featured in many international environmental missions and numerous books and articles.

Classic Boats. Baruffa | Pierrot 925
A boat that is comfortable to live in, with a streamlined interior, easy to drive even in rough seas. The Pierrot 925 It was born as an ideal continuation of the discourse opened with the Pierrot 920. Also produced by Mariver and designed by Sciomachen, it has substantial changes from the previous design that make it faster and more balanced: different water lines, a new bulb profile, and a completely redesigned rudder. The boat has excellent sailing comfort, with good performance at all gaits, even in rough seas.

Classic Boats. Sister Moon | Oscar 70
A small cabin cruiser designed by Mauro Stefini for racing and cruising; trolleyable, maneuverable with good habitabilityIn 1970, the Milan-based Nautivela shipyard commissioned architect Mauro Stefini to design a racing-cruising cabin cruiser in the seven-meter range. Thus was born the Oscar 70, a carriageable sloop that combines sporting qualities, good habitability and sailing comfort. Maneuverable and practical, this nimble cabin cruiser can still be an interesting solution even for sailors taking their first steps in longshore sailing.
The hull has a medium displacement, high freeboard, and pronounced stern and bow slips. The interiors are distinguished by volumes designed as a single room and discreet habitability despite limited space: they offer four bunks, a galley, a separate bathroom, and a sail cove in the bow. A very limited number (about 17) were built.
