3 Your Classic Boats, great jewels of the last century
Some boats are true works of art, objects that are also mass-produced but undoubtedly exceptional, capable of thrilling us even dozens and dozens of years after their birth. Designed by brilliant minds and icons of a unique history, deserving of every appreciation and compliment, so many of you have shared with us, and with each other, your Classic Boat, populating and enriching the page dedicated to them (which you can find HERE), an online archive where anyone can enter, narrate, and see their Classic Boat celebrated (we explain it all HERE). To give credit to these boats, then, here are some of the ones you have told us about, stock boats, certainly, but each in its own unique way and, in this case, all heirs to outstanding IOR “racers.”

Egea – Carter 37
In 1973 Olympic Marine began production of the Carter 37, an incredible hull signed by the brilliant Dick Carter. The pedigree of this 11.2-meter is exceptional, deriving directly from the legendary Ydra, One Off with which, earlier that year, Straulino won the One Ton Cup. Adapted to serial production by Carter himself, it remains an excellent boat, an ante-litteram cruiser racer with very elegant lines, a splendid stern and a more than harmonious deckhouse. Egea -of which you can find more information HERE-was launched in 1975, and has not changed hands since, remaining in the same family.
Classic Boats. Oneiros – Canados 33
In the mid-1970s, the great Andrea Vallicelli had designed an incredible Three Quarter Tonner, a great protagonist of Mediterranean regattas: Argento Vivo. In 1976, Canados Shipyards launched its serial production, turning a winning prototype into an outstanding fast-cruiser, the Canados 33, a 10-meter fast, comfortable, and seaworthy. Oneiros -You can find his card HERE- is exactly one of the descendants of Argento Vivo, a 1980 Canados 33.
Blue Cloud – Ziggurat 916
In 1976 young Andrea Vallicelli, still a university student, designed for himself the first boat of what would become an archistar studio. The Ziggurat, a small Half Tonner designed with Vittorio Mariani and Nicola Sironi, was born. He will immediately know how to assert himself abundantly on the race courses. Foresighted CPR immediately grasped its design merits, and decided to start mass production under the name Ziggurat 916. Success. Nuvola azzurra -whose file can be found HERE- is precisely a 1980 Ziggurat 916, currently sailing on Lake Maggiore in Luino and, together with many other twins, keeps alive an icon of Italian sailing.
