Competitors’ boats from outside, as is tradition, will be hosted free of charge in the Cala Gavetta Harbor.

Who are the first entrants in the VELA Cup La Maddalena
La Maddalena is a mythical place that many sailors know because it is the race course of the most prestigious international regattas as well as home, on the adjacent island of Caprera, to Italy’s most famous sailing center. Lo and behold, the call of the VELA Cup has already been answered by many crews. Starting with the Classic Boat category, big news this year with award dedicated to those boats, including standard and fiberglass boats, more than 25 years old, there are Arctica, a typical 9-meter Nordic boat, an Arne Arksunds Amigo 33 (designed by Carl Andersson) from 1986 by Gea E. Ocleppo, e Gnagnara, the 1987 Panda 33 by Angelo Manunta, built by the Nordcantieri-Costaguta shipyard, a historic name in Italian shipbuilding founded Avigliana in the province of Turin, at the mouth of the Susa Valley, by the Nicolotti brothers, where Azimut-Benetti is now based. More modern classics include Stairway to Heaven 2, Adriana Tiron‘s 1996 Comar Genesi 43 (Varicelli project). Twin boat, but no longer Classic because it was launched in 2000, Mirale, Alexander‘s Genesis 43
Innocenti Uccini.
Precisely because the VELA Cup is a regatta for all sizes and types of boats, as well as competitive monohulls such as Skeddih, Enrico Galluzzi‘s Beneteau First 31.7, former winner of the VELA Cup La Spezia in 2022, there are also catamarans like Bucefalo, Andrea Bolini‘s Outremer 49, and self-built boats like Aleissima, Alessandro Cabras‘ 9.50 Race Cruiser. Finally, there is also no shortage of first-time sailors eager to get involved and have fun as in the spirit of the VELA Cup, such as the crew of Roxanne, Pier Paolo Celeste‘s Dufour Yachts 50 Classic.
