Between history and natural oases
The route is breathtaking as it echoes the historic routes of Brindisi’s boats, sailing off the prestigious beaches of Punta Penne and Torre Testa, close to the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve. A reserve and marine protected area that covers an area of about 1,000 hectares and is considered an oasis between the land and the sea. Between sandy coves, transparent sea and posidonia meadows, the landscape of Torre Guaceto is the epitome of Mediterranean scrubland.

It starts on Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m., north of the Puntariso Dam outside the port of Brindisi. The first buoy will be placed off the Punta Penne-Punta del Serrone Area of Natural and Historical Interest, in the waters where the famous Bronzes, on display at the Brindisi Archaeological Museum, were found in 1992. It will follow a long coastal side to the second buoy, positioned close to the Torre Guaceto Marine Protected Area, where they will have to tack to return to the starting line. Coastal sailing of about 13 miles, with course reduction in case of weak winds, to allow everyone to finish the race.
