The celebrated Wally brand once again proves itself at the top of technological evolution that seeks to balance maxi racer performance with cruising comfort. Recently the shipyard, part of the Ferretti Group, announced the launch of its new Wally 101 Full Custom on Saturday, April 22 in Marina di Ravenna. This is a superyacht of cruiser racer conception that in its water lines is inspired by the design of the emblematic WallyCento class, in a mixture of taut lines, exceptional finishes and manic attention to detail. Never before has a sailing boat gone so far in combining performance and luxury, racing and cruising.

“After Baron D, Nahita and last years’ Wally 144 Full Custom, this is the 48th full-custom sailing superyacht built by Wally,” says Stefano de Vivo, CEO of Wally, “a model that continues the company’s remarkable contribution to the advancement of sailing design and technology. Launching a fully custom 101-footer is a major milestone for us that once again demonstrates the ability of Wally and the Ferretti Group to always be at the forefront, even in the competitive sailing superyacht market.”

Wally 101 Full Custom – The Secrets

Providing the naval architecture of the Wally 101 Full Custom, as well as the exterior and interior design, was the firm Judel/Vrolijk & co. which supported Wally’s naval design team led by Luca Bassani and Studio Santa Maria Magnolfi.

Of course, the strength of the boat is its being super light despite its size. An achievement achieved through the latest carbon fiber technology pioneered and developed over the years by Wally using a high-tech composite sandwich with pre-preg carbon fiber. “The displacement of the boat is only 55 tons,” explains Luca Bassani, Founder and Chief Designer of Wally, ” which is almost 15 percent less than yachts of similar size and configuration, and with 40 percent of the total weight placed in the keel.

The new yacht features the Wally Enhanced Hydraulic System that includes multiple hydraulic pumps to further speed sail handling. The lifting keel also increases draft from 4.70 m to an extraordinary 6.80 m for unparalleled upwind performance. In this way, the boat can easily achieve high performance at all speeds and in all configurations. The sail plan is 630 square meters. Even when not sailing, the 425-hp engine provides a top speed of 11.5 knots.

In the interior, on the other hand, the master cabin has a private bathroom and a walk-in closet. Two more cabins with private bathrooms complete the guest accommodation for 6 people, while the salon offers a living and dining area with seating for 10-12. Finally, the service area includes the crew mess, laundry, kitchen and two cabins with private bathrooms for 4 people.
