The 5 Classic Boats in this 10th episode: from 11.25 to 11.28 meters

Speaking of Classic Boats, we have reiterated by now, the relevance of a hull transcends the age of the artifact itself and focuses more on its historical value, its recognized aesthetic, technical and qualitative originality. In short, there are boats and boats, but some inevitably belong to a whole other category. We have selected 100 memorable ones and, coming to this 10th episode, we now look at 5 Classic Boats between 11.25 and 11.28 meters.

5 Classic Boats from 11.25 to 11.28 meters

Two America’s Cup designers, overseas rising stars and true sailing legends. Among these 5 boats, all more or less the same length and belonging to the same decade, we will get a good look at the differences in “school” and approach, moving from hulls that are the offspring of the great racers of the time, such as the “Big Cat” by Vallicelli or the“Ydra” Carter’s, to projects that were born to be excellent cruiser-racer, such as the Ranger 37 or Cuthberson & Cassian’s Baltic.

CHANCE 37

Wauquiez | 11.25 x 3.18 m | 1971 | Britton Chance

Designed by Britton Chance, a major America’s Cup signature, this 37′ is the yard’s answer to the need for a fast cruising boat. It soon becomes a great success, with 95 hulls built. This is a boat for lovers of the classic: long, angular deckhouse and beautiful narrow stern.

’70s Classic Boats – RANGER 37

Ranger Yachts | 11.28 x 3.45 m | 1972 | Gary Mull

Not many U.S. shipyards produced mass-produced, fiberglass boats of a certain standard in the 1970s. Among them was Ranger Yachts, which relied in 1972 on rising US design star Gary Mull to build the Ranger 37. Success, 100 examples produced and the prestigious victory in the SORC regattas in Florida.
