The Jeanneau Yachts 55 during our test

The Jeanneau Yachts 55 is the latest addition to the French shipyard’s dedicated luxury cruising range. A super cruiser without compromising on comfort, with a few tricks to break the mold of classic interior and exterior layouts. We went to Jeanneau’s sea trials in Cannes to try out the new model and observe its solutions, and here’s how it went.

Jeanneau Yachts 55 – The New Designs

How does the Yachts line differ from the Sun Odyssey? As we had also told you in the Jeanneau Yachts 60 test this range is dedicated to more luxury owner cruising, so boats over 50 feet and lots of customization possibilities.

The new Jeanneau Yachts 55 was designed once again by Philippe Briand, in collaboration with Andrew Winch for the interior. An established team that is signing the entire new line of Jeanneau sailboats. The new 16-meter cruiser brings some innovations, incorporating solutions that had been introduced in part for the Sun Loft 47.

The two rudder areas have been advanced a great deal to carve out a larger sundeck area aft. Thanks to the partial cockpit cover, the wheelhouses are quite sheltered, and it will be possible to install a real external chart table under the sprayhood.

The other new feature is the interior, with entrance to the aft cabins, each with its own bathroom, directly from the cockpit. The master cabin is forward, with two sliding doors that when opened create almost an open space environment with the dinette.
