Five small used boats from 5.80 to 8.42 m

There are five small boats, i.e., unregistered (and therefore “paperless”), often trolleyable and easily operated by themselves, suitable for all kinds of sailors. Think there is even an ultra-spacious motorsailer!!! We present them to you in ascending order of length. A safe used boat: guarantees the Sailing Newspaper!

Elan 19 – 5.80 m – Perfect for getting started

The first of the small used boats for sale on our marketplace is a “mignon” gem from the 1980s, perfect as a first boat. We are talking about an Elan 19 (5.80 x 2.49 m), a small cruiser designed in 1985 by the Slovenian firm J&J (and remained in production until 1991).

This is a versatile boat, easily trolleyed since it has a movable centreboard and external hanging rudder, as well as a collapsible mast. The construction is solid and safety is ensured by a very low center of gravity. Armed at 7/8, the ratio of sail area (23 sq m) to displacement (650 kg) denotes good performance. Maneuvers are simple and essential, the cockpit is functional while below deck the interior can accommodate four people.

The model we offer is from 1986 and can be seen in Cecina. Well maintained, with Yamaha 6-horsepower outboard motor and complete set of sails, it is sold at a very attractive price.

Etap 20 – 6.05 m – Bestseller Made in Belgium

We continue with the second of the small used boats for sale in our marketplace. TheEtap 20 (6.05 x 2.30 m) was one of the most successful boats of the Belgian Etap shipyard: as many as 1,000 examples were launched of Van de Stadt’s 1975 design. A bestseller that remained in production until 1992.

His secret? The maneuverability and ease of handling, making it perfect as a “first boat,” great for short cruises and family outings, as well as solo.

The boat, equipped with a movable centreboard, collapsible mast and easily trolleyable, is lightweight (only 680 kg). The special feature that distinguished the Etaps was the guarantee of unsinkability, due to a special construction technique.

The restrained and streamlined interior has a kitchenette, a V-shaped berth in the bow, two side couches that can become (albeit a bit small) two additional beds for children, and a central folding table.

The model for sale, which can be seen in Magione (on Lake Trasimeno), is in excellent condition and has two sail games and a 2.5 hp Yamaha outboard motor. Very good price.

MacGregor 26M – 7.87 m – The vessel that is a megayacht

We change genres completely, while remaining in the world of small boats, with the third of the boats used under the lens.

Used boats – MacGregor 26M (sistership)

They sell a MacGregor 26M (7.87 x 2.36 m), a small house on the water since we are talking about a motorsailer. The model is a modern-day evolution (2003 the year of its launch) of what was the U.S. shipyard designer/builder Rober MacGregor’s greatest success, the MacGregor 26 that was produced in more than 20,000 units!

Thanks to the full-beam raised deckhouse (which, however, has a sleek shape with a sort of double level, in the manner of motor megayachts. Either like it or dislike it) the space below deck is amazing considering that the boat is less than 8 meters long.

Full-beam XXL cabin aft, square with double sofa, galley and bathroom forward serving the double forward cabin. The cockpit is well protected, and-surprise of surprises-despite the not-so-light displacement (nearly two tons) the boat is fun to sail, thanks to a well-designed sail plan (28 sq. m.) with a high-overlap jib.

The model for sale is from 2008 and is equipped with every convenience and improvement made by the owner to make the boat even more “comfy” when cruising.

Used boats. Altura A 801 – 8.01 m – Comfortably 80s

Let’s move on with the fourth of the small used boats for sale in our marketplace, stepping back to the 1980s. We are talking about an Altura A 801 (8.01 x 2.75 m), produced in the 1980s by the Altura shipyard in Gaggiano (Milan), designed by Pasquale and Luigi Petrilli.

A cruise boat definitely a child of its time, with a high deckhouse (good so the height in the square) and a well sheltered cockpit in which the tiller rudder finds its place. The model under review, from 1984, has four beds below deck, with a separate bathroom.

It is powered by 6.5 horsepower inboard and can be seen in Alghero. In perfect condition, ready to buoy.

Oceanis 281 – 8.42 m – Small large cruiser

We close with the last of the small used boats for sale. In production from 1995 to 2002, designed by Finot, the Beneteau Oceanis 281 (8.42 x 2.86 m) has everything you need for comfortable cruising despite its small size. 340 examples were made.

The boat’s cruiser vocation is evident from its “bulky” lines and an all-too-small sail plan (38.6 sq m for a total displacement of over 3 tons), but this is a hull that will surprise you with its performance, even in light winds. This means only one thing: Groupe Finot has done a great job.

The great interior roominess is also guessed from the large deckhouse (the walkways are somewhat sacrificed). The cockpit is spacious, in pure Oceanis style. Below deck, a double cabin aft and a berth forward, separated by a curtain from the U-shaped saloon seat, possibly convertible into a second berth. The kitchen is tilting with two burners, and the bathroom is convenient.

The model under the lens, dated 1999 and visible in the province of Agrigento, is equipped with every convenience and has been maintained maniacally. It is powered by Volvo Penta MD 2020-C BT inboard engines.
