The Mini 650 season in Italy gets into full swing with the YCI’s GP Mini, the regatta organized by the Italian Yacht Club and started in Genoa. The course this year is on the Genoa – Gorgona Island – Elba Island – Giannutri Island – Ants of Montecristo – Pianosa Island – Elba Island – Capraia Island – Genoa passages, 390 miles for what is the longest race in the Italian Mini regatta calendar. There are 16 crews participating in the 2023 edition of the GPI, 10 Series class (including 4 French) and 6 Proto class (4 French).
GP Mini – Quick Start
The start from Genoa was in moderately windy conditions from the northern quadrants, with a fast descent to the south. In these hours, the Minis are engaged in the first passage of the Gorgona, with a wind expected to rotate: from the southwesterly regime of this early part of the morning, there will be a return to a more northeasterly wind, with a transition to be managed with passages within the Tuscan archipelago.
There are currently two outriders: for prototypes, the Maximum 865 of the Gaby Bucau-Valentina Fissore pair; for the Series, on the other hand, there is a wild Alessandro Torresani who also occupies the second overall position with his Porco Rosso.
