The best of world foiling gathered in Milan at the Sixth Foiling Awards ceremony. Among the awardees are incredible boats and absolute protagonists of Olympic sailing, such as Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti, the “Formula 1” championship of the sea SailGP and Luna Rossa ‘s prototype LEQ12.
Tita-Banti and Luna Rossa among the awardees
Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti received the Sailing Team award, given for the best team performance in 2022 for their performance and achievements aboard the Nacra 17, aboard which they were confirmed as European and world champions. They are also our

. The Italian America’s Cup team also received recognition during the Foiling Awards. Team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli was presented with the award in the one-off category for the best foiling project in sailing not intended for commercialization. Present to accept the award were several team members-Max Sirena, Horacio Carabelli, Gilberto Nobili and Matteo Ledri.
The 1st overall prize named after the inventor of foil
This year’s Foiling Awards reached a record 13 award categories, and for the first time the overall Forlanini award was also given. Enrico Forlanini, an engineer whose experiments in the early 1900s on his hydroplane invented the first foils, was given the most important award. Overall is a perpetual award that is given each year by a jury of previous awardees to one of the category winners. This year’s winner of the coveted award was SailGP, which won the award for Best Foiling Event. Who knows whether the echo of the Foiling Awards will prompt the creation of an Italian team to participate in what has established itself as the world circuit of reference in recent years. During the lengthy award ceremony-there were thirteen awards-important sports sailing figures and institutions from the nautical and other industries took the stage, including Cariboni, Garmin, HiNelson, Persico, and Torqeedo. Partners also include GAC Pindar, Engenuity, Vakaros, World Sailing, and Mets Trade the leading marine accessories trade show that in 2023 will host the first Foiling Technology pavilion in collaboration with The Foiling Organization, the new global network created by We Are Foiling. President and founder of We Are Foiling Luca Rizzotti recalled the date to celebrate ten years of Foiling Week in Malcesine, on Lake Garda, June 26 to July 5.
