Arriving from Slovenia, imported by Nautigamma, is Pegasus Yachts’ Pegasus 50, a blue water cruiser that has made a name for itself among long-distance boaters. The boat received a real certificate of guarantee, having won with owner Markus Moser the Ostar 2022, a legendary solo race from Plymouth (Great Britain) to Newport (United States).
Mind you, as mentioned above, we are not talking about a racing boat, however, but a long-distance cruiser, which nevertheless does not draw, given its technical characteristics, good sailing performance.
Pegasus 50 – globetrotting DNA
Pronounced freeboard, important width, panoramic deckhouse, all with a sail plan with good vertical development and generous surface area, this has the right habitability and seaworthiness characteristics to be considered a blue water. Comfort yes, and plenty of it inside the Pegasus 50, but also a boat capable of grinding out miles under sail at good speed averages, an essential condition if you intend to undertake long sailings.
The cockpit is partially sheltered by thehard top, which can be partially opened if necessary. On the hard top the mainsail sheet fixed point is deferred, the rest of the rigging runs outside the cockpit and is gathered aft near the helmsman.
One of the special features of this boat is that from the cockpit, going down just two small steps leads to the interior floor. This is because the interior floor lines are designed so that the dining area is as high as possible and takes advantage of the panoramic deckhouse. The dining table with sofas is on the right, the galley on the left, very interesting is the chart table station, also on the left but totally elevated so that the head of the person sitting can look directly out through the deckhouse.
