Interesting news coming out of Poland, with the Yacht Yard presenting the new Focus 30, a boat for small sport cruising. The design is by Jacek Deszkiewicz and Jerzy Pieśniewski, who have already collaborated on other models from the shipyard. Yacht Yard has been in business since 2003, and has developed the Focus line that has now reached its fourth model.
Focus 30 – The largest in the series
The Polish shipyard specializes in small sport cruisers with a rather racy soul, featuring generous sail plans and the possibility of customizing certain aspects of the boat. The Focus 30, at 9 meters, is the longest in the range, which also counts the 730, 750 and 800.
The boat can be equipped with a trapezoidal lifting keel, fixed L-shaped keel, tiller or twin wheel rudder. The hull is characterized by a fairly pronounced high edge on the water, which dies just before the bow. The high position on the water helps to increase the spacious feel of the interior, and it also benefits the forward cabin, which is affected by the edge end.
The cockpit is open aft with a swim platform, the mainsail is on a fixed point, and there are 4 total winches, two on the deckhouse and the pair of primaries for the headsails within reach of the helmsman.
Focus 30 – The Interior
Fairly classic layout for the interior, with two cabins, a center table in the dinette with a double bench. Kitchen on the left, bathroom on the right, and a small chart table that does not have a dedicated seat but takes advantage of that of the sofa.
The boat should have thanks to the pronounced deckhouse a fair amount of interior height, the width at 2.99 is a good compromise, and with the edge gimmick the dinette promises to be spacious even for cruising use.
