So many boating enthusiasts, sailors and lovers of the sea have a great little dream in their drawer: to make their passion for the sea and sailing a job, perhaps aboard incredible boats and sailing to distant seas. Today there is room to work in boating, an industry that is always looking for new professionals. But how is it done?
Become a boating professional
The chances of finding a job in boating as a skipper or steward/hostess have never been better. Compounded by the situation due to Covid-19, since the summer of 2020 we have seen a boom in requests for boat vacations, and to date the situation does not seem to have changed, quite the contrary. Charter and rental companies, agencies, and nautical brokers are booming, and therefore are constantly looking for new staff to join the workforce. Not only skippers, but also hostesses, stewards, cooks, and other shipboard personnel.
To work in boating, it is not enough to know how to sail: in fact, companies require professional, professionalized figures with a solid, documented foundation who can handle any situation when they are working on boats, even the potentially most complicated ones. The way to specialize and secure a future job in the boating industry is to take a course, such as those organized by the Academy of
Captains & Crew. This company over the years has become a benchmark for seriousness and professionalism, training highly regarded skippers and crews in the industry.
How Captains & Crew courses work
The school is aimed primarily at those who have already obtained the titles and qualifications to work in the nautical charter business, but wish to deepen their skills and establish themselves in the job market. The highly professional courses of the Academy of Captains & Crew, coordinated by Com.te Ugo Carsana and Sabina Pagliei, prepare skippers ala all-around vacation management. Here you learn how to always ensure the safety of the boat and guests, how to understand what their wishes are and what to do to respect them, and how to interface with them in the best way. Taking a course Captains & Crew prepares skippers, hostesses and stewards to deal with and manage an all-around professional vacation.
