Gunboat, the manufacturer of luxury carbon catamarans, announced at the Düsseldorf boat show the launch of a new model, the Gunboat 70, which will replace the 68-footer starting in 2025.

What has changed on Gunboat 70
Gunboat with this new catamaran wanted to listen to the requests of customers who wanted more space on board. The mast, which on the 68 was in front of the deckhouse, has now been moved above, and the engine room, from a central position, has been moved aft. This new configuration, in addition to improving soundproofing, performance, and sail plan balance, allowed for an expansion of the size of the cabins and the salon. With the mast thus shifted aft, the sail plan includes as a headsail a large self-tacking lug (J2) and a taller mainsail that is easier for the crew to handle. The internal wheelhouse, Gunboat’s hallmark, has a tilt wheel, which can be tilted to port or starboard, improving visibility when turning. A double aft wheel can be requested as an option, in addition to the inner wheel. In the living room there is space for a very large sofa that can comfortably seat 8 people, and in the option with a central kitchen, you can choose between an island or U-shaped work table for even more storage space. Alternatively, the galley can be moved to the port hull, along with the crew quarters, so that the entire deck becomes one large lounge, which with sliding doors can be joined to the aft cockpit seating.

Gunboat 70: the evolution of the species
“It‘s been six years since we designed Gunboat 68 “-Benoit Lebizay, Gunboat Managing Partner-and we are now building units 6 and 7 and two of each of the 72 and 80 series, with their first launch expected this spring/summer. We are focused on refining things the way they are, and with the network of suppliers we have built around our main shipyard in France, we have become experts in precision work and making highly customizable boats. This new 70-footer represents the culmination of this experience and reflects the interests of customers today who want to buy a boat of this size.”
