Eye-catching from first sight – almost as if it were a hybrid between a catamaran and one of those stealth of the 1980s – the new Befoil 16 Carbon (5 m x 2.5 m) is a small technical marvel, a catamaran full-Carbon e foiling Capable of speeds close to 30-35 knots!

Performance aside, the 16 Carbon is not only a high-performance machine, but is designed with the clear intent that it can also compete in F16 class circuits, proving that it can not only be a fun drift, but also truly usable and competitive on circuits.

To go into detail, we first need to understand the two variants and the minor but relevant differences. The F16 variant, lighter by about ten kilograms, is designed to fall within the parameters of the circuit of the same name, and features a slightly reduced sail area compared to the foil model, as well as being equipped with conventional daggerboards and rudders, rather than foiling. The foiling variant, on the other hand, is heavier (135 kg vs 125 kg) and more technical, featuring not only foils and an increased mainsail (it has a deeper slanted base, almost touching the deck), but also the entire flight management and pitch control system. In fact, at the bow we find the classic ‘batten,’ the dedicated system that adjusts elevation and tilt through the drag generated in the water by it.

Overall, the boat looks like a particularly technical, fast and high-performance catamaran, made entirely of carbon, although it is also available in fiberglass. Not a bad ‘toy’ worthy of our attention in the period ahead.
